People are always stupid enough to assume that all Americans support this war.

People are also always stupid enough to assume that the kind of shit posted in this thread is some kind of "new discovery".

If I operated on assumptions too, I'd assume that all Brits are just as happy with the war as G.W. Bush and Tony Blair and make threads like these about Brits.

Yeah and there's hardly anyone in the UK at the minute who actually believes this has something to do with terrorism. There's so many cynics these days that most people believe its something to do with oil. I do.
But still, don't post pro-Iraqi resistance shit on the offspring website. These are uncensored and really disgusting.

haha, americans "just discovered" we were "losing" a war...

what is there to lose? how can america possibly win or lose, what are the criteria? the american citizens are aware that people are dying, that our troops are mired in bullshit and are ordered to "take over" little towns for little to no reason.

we pull troops out now, can it be called a loss? the government we supposedly went in to take out is out.

i wouldn't call this another vietnam, there was an obvious lose. this? just a mess. no win or lose.

Most of that I agree with.

I like to avoid all Iraq threads, but why does this pamphlet gradually degenarate into insulting Americans? Hell, I do it myself on multiple occasions so i'll hardly shed a tear if some graphic on the internet is offensive to anyone, but if you are, whoeever started the thread, counting to come out as the voice of reason, why do you turn against the people you wish to recruit? I'm talking specifically about such slogans as "don't worry, we'll just take your head off" or anything signed "iraqui resistance". How is that fucking helping anyone?

Whine whine whine. These images aren't too bad. Yes, graphic, and part of me dislikes that aspect of it too, however, a little bit to be expected.

I'd have to agree with Johnny Nemesis though, it's rather foolish to believe that all Americans love Bush. Nearly half hate him. The American public has never been mobilized to such a degree in a long time, just because they dislike Bush and want to end the war in Iraq.

And in all honesty, American soldiers aren't in Iraq because they believe the cause is just and want to do their bit, most of them joined the military out of lack of choices, and felt co-erced by a really opportunistic government. Nothing shocking there, just the American soldiers truly aren't the enemy. Just a bunch of scared as shit poor kids.

not really coerced. they don't push you much to join. the reason kids sign up is because it's easir to join than get a job at mcdonalds, people don't think you're a complete loser for joining the army--in fact they think you've got something good going there, the army pays fairly well, and they'll also put you through college.

with the vast majority of jobs requiering a degree now, most people are screwed: fast food, community college for 7 years because these kids could barely get through high school, or the army. what would you pick?

Hey come on, there's a guy with his intestines showing. I dont really bother much about pictures with violence because, to be honest, I dont really care. But we all know whats going on in Iraq and it really doesnt need to be highlighted any more than it has been.

Yes they do. They target poor communties especially, and I know this from experience. My cousins have all been called regularly for the past five years after showing minor interest, and even I've been called on a regular basis for the past few years by the same Seargent who is desperate for me to join. He continues to call me even after I've said explicitly that I have absolutely no interest in enlisting.

Heh; I was debating whether to join the army if I failed my GCSE's and wouldn't be able to do A levels; damn, that was dumb.

I wouldn't really say the US lost in Vietnam either. Sure it didn't become a client state, but it didn't develop into a successful independent country which could "infect" the surrounding region.

Laos became a socialist nation and Vietnam invaded Cambodia (although, I guess nobody like the Khmer Rouge so that's no real tragedy.)

Have to agree here. I live in a fairly wealthy town, and we never had recruiters come to my high school or anything....and I don't know anyone in my town that was ever called to join the military. Now, some of the less wealthy towns around here....the high schools there have recruiters in them constantly.

And as for the pictures in this topic......fascinating. Really fascinating. Really.

JohnnyNemesis
06-08-2005, 06:19 PM
Yeah Rag Doll, the recruiters constantly target us here, and we're in one of the poorer NYC neighborhoods. They were constantly in the Community College I just transferred out of, badgering anyone with a pulse who'd stop and listen. The military isn't for me, but I know it's for some people...but still, isn't it pretty much ridiculous to have recruiters IN the damn school? Do community college students need even MORE reasons not to pursue an education? Gimme a break.

I've already elaborated on my support for this statement, but allow me to explicitly express it here. I have SEVERAL family members and a few friends who fit that desription exactly, and did so under promises of a new house, wads of money, etc. They're miserable, terrified, and the ones that are over in Iraq are completely clueless.

...and I saw someone jump in front of my subway train during my morning commute on Monday. Our world is full of graphic and senseless violence. Obviously, the person who committed suicide on the R wasn't acting on behalf of the U.S. government. But still. We're so surrounded by such awful visuals that I feel bored by people who intentionally use them to try and get a cheap knee-jerk reaction out of someone---in other words, our friend Batman.

And so I ask, Batman, wtf? What do you think you're trying to prove? You're preaching to the choir. Way to be a dick about it.

I fucking love Military Recruitors.

"Hullo?"
"Hello, is Sean there?"
"Yeah, I'm Sean."
"Sean, have you ever been interested in joining the Arm.."
"Seriously, this is the fifth time you guys have called me and I always say that I'm not interested in joining."
"We've never called you before."
"Whatever, you guys called me last week."
"So you don't want to enlist?"
"Pffffffft, fuck no."
"Okay, if you don't want to help out your country..."
"Yeah, not interested. Later twat."

Ha! Yeah, I love when they lie or get defensive.

I think next time they call I'm gonna say that my boyfriend won't let me join. That'll really hit a sensitive spot with 'em.

I would really like someone to say that, it's so clever. Or you could say "No, sorry, I already agreed to join (opponent country's name)'s army about 5 minutes ago."

The saying don't paint a fine picture with a broad brush comes up here.

I dunno about Iraq anymore, I dunno what to think about regieme change. SOldiers are bound to die if we are gonna go making the world a better place. But I think it's only fare to forewarn them exactly why they are going to war.

The history of 20th century regime change has been a failure. An expensive failure in terms of human lives too.

Yeah, I think that in the years after the Vietnam War there were something on the order of seven successful communist insurgencies worldwide, somewhat proving the domino effect.

Also, 'bout the army, plenty of people signed up for it prior to or immediately after 9/11 both in the reserves and in ROTC, never imagining that they'd end up in Iraq. And then a month or so ago the army shut down recruiting for a day to train enlisters about proper techniques after receiving over 400 complaints about recruiters using improper procedures.
