Slovaks don't have Santa. And as a kid I never believed in any of those characters anyway.

I caught my parents putting the presents under the tree at an early age. Since then I've never believed things easily.

I was 4 or 5 years old. My grandfather played Santa ( Nikolaus in Germany) in the kindergarten I went to. But he wore his own pullover. First I thought that Santa had stolen it from my grandfather. But then I realized that it was my grandfather.

Bah, three worthless bumps by two different users in one day. Guess I'll leave again, since the only thing this board does to me these days is that it pisses me off.

I Always knew Santa was my parents, my mom couldn't help making too much noise wrapping the presents, lol.

Isn't Santa Claus the German "Weihnachtsmann" while St. Nicholaus is the "Nikolaus"?

Anyway, I like the thought of an alcohol-addicted Santa who wishes children a nice christmas in stolen clothes.

a lot of people seem to have found out at an early age, i wouldnt have thought kids would understand the story properly or even be able to write letters until they were around four or five years old and then they get hit with the facts! i could be wrong though!

My Dad told me at the age of 7. I still remember it plain as day too. I said to him, "so you mean to tell me that it's been you and Mom buying presents for us (my sis & I) ALL these years? He said, "yeah." I ran away crying. Not a very fun experience. :(

Yes I am serious and no one can be sure if Jesus is real...

And I would like to take this opporitunity to point out that I don't ride that bus anymore...

Unfortunately, I ride in a van with a bunch of three year-olds and one other kid my age...

No one can be sure if Santa is real either.

Or the Easter Bunny.

Or the Tooth Fairy.

You do not believe that Santa is real. Why? You have no proof that Santa doesn't exist and yet you no longer believe in his existence. At the same time you're willing to say that no one can be sure when it comes to Jesus. This just makes no sense. If you're going to be that way about it then no one can be sure if Santa is real.

Both are almost certainly fictitious characters based loosely on people who once lived.
