They were originally Manic Subsidal when they started in the 80's. But they had people thinking it was Maniac Suicudal. So they changed it to The Offspring a little bit later. Hope that helped you.

Never came up with an answer...but we can imagine.

The punk movement started a few years before they were born. They might have heard it and liked, and back then they were young. You can notice - mainly on the Co1 album - that some of their songs relate to things experienced by us teens. Also, it's typical of teens the wish to protest in order to change the world. So...punk...youth...they are the rebel children of this dog-eat-dog world. The Offspring. Conquering hearts and minds of the world's offspring in order to revolutionize the way we listen to music.

Sounds exciting, heh? Someday I may become a radio speaker!

I was going to say that, too. Isn't it on the history of the band? I think that's where I read it...

We stand corrected. Now I'm embarassed I forgot about the Adolescents. But they wrote a song about an ameoba, and the Descendents wrote songs about food, girls, food, bodily functions, and food. And girls.

Hmmm, yours doesn't look like Noodles' guitar. Maybe it's just the lighting, but his guitar isn't white.

You often hear the word Offspring in biology so maybe the name just
came to mind when Dexter was learning to become a Biologist but he
than decided to name the band Offspring , I don't really know.

Maybe "The Offspring" can clear this up ?

They enjoyed the movie "The Offspring" soooo much that they decided to name their band that.

I don't know.

i heard that it was either because of the movie, or that they were supposed to be the offspring of an unknown band...

I think it has to do something with the original S/T album cover... or the LP cover has to do something with the band name... I'm not sure.
