View Full Version : June 26th show in San Antonio was AWESOME!

gotta hand it to em...they know how to steal a show! :)

its the first time ive seen them live....after being a devout fan for 11 years, it was about time.

they came by with the warped tour. most of the other bands were crap with the exceptions of tsunami bomb, dropkick murphys, and avenged sevenfold... but i digress...

so the offspring are supposed to go on at 5:30...but were maybe 10 mins late cuz of setup time. i try and get as close the the front as possible...but the closest i could get was about 5 rows of people from the very front. keep in mind it's texas in the summer and the stages were on asphalt.

they open with All I Want...man the crowd went nuts!

ive been to plenty of crazy heavy metal shows, but none of them would prepare me for what i was about to experience.

next was Come out and Play. the crowd pushed everyone around so hard...crowdsurfers coming along every 30 seconds... and since im really short (5 feet tall) i was getting constricted by all the pushing. the pushing and pushing would just get worse with no drawback, so getting air to breathe was getting more and more difficult. once the 3rd some came around, Cant Repeat, the intense heat and my limited breathing got me noticed by the security in the front and they pulled me out. once i got out i was standing right in front of dexter... but i was too busy gasping for air to acknowledge him. then i went back into the crowd...but not too close to the stage to avoid the same thing happening again. but that also wasnt gonna stop me from enjoying the show

Then they played Can't Repeat, Bad Habit, Gone Away, Self Esteem, and the Kids arent Alright. it was a short set and lots of fans were kinda disappointed about it, but thats how the warped tour works...

one thing that was really cute of dexter and noodles was the fun chats between songs, one of which won the hearts of the texans in the crowd. Dexter and noodles sang, "the stars at night, are big and bright..." as dexter put the microphone to the audeince, and we sang back. "deep in the heart of texas!" the crowd loved it!

seeing them live was truly amazing. they defintely have the stage presence of legends, and their high energy just sets people off, its crazy! but cool.

they always say celebrities never look and sound the same in person as they do in the media...but thats not true with the offspring, they are very real and charismatic guys.

ive spoken to them once before, but i think seeing them perform live was much cooler ;)

thanks for the experice dexter, noodles, greg, and atom! hope to see you guys again soon :D

That's pretty awesome... too bad that they only played 7 songs though, but oh well.

Nice to hear, Ronin. :)

My first Offspring show, June 19th last year, was an awesome experience too. Reading your thread brought back many the great memory.

Nice job, man. Sorry to hear about the shitty crowd actions.

Sounds like security there were cool, though. I was threatened with getting thrown out of the mosh after I threw some crowdsurfer dick to the ground (I was front-row, up against the barrier, downed him in the space between barrier and stage) after he purposely kicked some little girl next to me (about 14 years old) in the head. Security here suck, they don't take into account what people deserve. Sure, they're great for keeping things civil, but don't really care if you're hitting someone who deserves it, they don't see that kind of stuff.

Oh well.

Short setlist, sure, but sounded like rad fun. :D

very cool, it kinda sucks that its such a short set list but there are just so many other bands that have to play also. i am really enjoying reading all the show reports people are posting, i cant wait till they come to chicago, im so excited since last year was the fist time i got to see them live and i had to be in the balcony :( because the people i was with did not want to be on the floor in the crowd. i thought about ditching them for awhile to join the crowd on the floor (it looked so fun down there) but i just couldnt do it i would have felt bad. this year will be different though, no balconies!!! :D

There needs to be an Australian Warped Toour date somewhere.

i'm surprised that they only played seven songs. that makes me a little bit less upset that i was working that day and missed the show. as much as i do want to see them in concert again. maybe the next tour. they are a great band to see live, you should see them when its their concert though. it is too much fun.

They only get 30 min to play, so 7 songs at about 3.5 min per song is about 25 min then talking after songs etc. for 5 min.
If warped came to Aus I would hope the offspring played at least one song of each of the first 2 two albums.

i think he must have missed a song or 2.. all the warped sets so far they have played 9 or 10 songs. usally an old one in there..

well they started late too so maybe thats why the list was so short

yeah it might be, could be the time slot also? or am i wrong, later=larger time slot

I'm glad I'm not the only one who went there.

they went on after 5:30...since they were late and all.

wasnt their fault tho...it took a while for the roadies to set stuff up and do sound checks etc etc.

God, I was so pissed. I missed the show in Las Cruces yesterday because I had to work. How many songs did The Offspring play?
