View Full Version : I'm a hippy now....

I find myself angry at democracy. Angry at politcians not listening to people. I geuss what made me realise this was live8 so that makes me even more of a hippy.

I'm fed up of the current system. The system that lets people starve. That takes people on 10k 25% so they get to take home 7500/yr barely enough to live on. The system that's so corrupt they charge 8,000 to sit some exams that you could just do free. The intellectual propriety rights that cause kids downloading music to go to jail or be fined and even worse cause 3rd world kids to die because they can't afford drugs is not wanted by ANY of the masses. It's only the elites. And the cunts who think they're getting such a hard deal for being taxed more than the poor.

I guess I'm fed up of the world. I've become a true socialist democrat recently. But I still believe in regieme change in Africa and other places. It needs to be done. But rather than the US, IMF, world bank etc. imposing freemarket policies once regieme change is completed they should help run the countries economies and government. It is the only way to solve the worlds problems. No other soltuion will work. I'm unconvinced that the masses of people will overthrow the current system i.e. communism. It will have to be a revoultion, to borrow a corny phrase "that will not be televised". A revoultion begun from within. With university grads such as us who can actually make the differnce and change government from within. If enough of us WANT to change, we're the ones who will be in power we have to change.

But then again there's so many people who are already middle class cunts at our age. Who think taxes are theft and only look out for themselves the personfication of such a person on this forum is Noodles is Gay. It's so sad.

I dunno what to do.

All I can do is work within my limits. If I choose to become a lawyer I can not be a cunt who over-charges people and who helps out poor tenants against ruthless landlords. Whatever you can do is the only way to improve the world. Just be nicer and stop being so selfish about money. Wanting more and more when you have plenty. There;s no satsification anymore. It's always more more more.

Anyway rant over. The worlds just pissing me off and I cant' do a lot about it which pisses me off even more aucse I know I don't have the talents to become like PM or anything.

All I know is once climate change gets going and energy reserves deplete, it will be anarchy and not the utopian kind either.

Yeah, the world is gradually getting worse. More juvenile crime due to the fact that more children are misbehaving. Crime is actually decreasing in proportion to the population, but more serious things like kids committing crimes and increasing gun crime is hardly any consolation. I can imagine the year 9's coming up into year 10 being worse than the current year 10's.

But that's not all - everything you've mentioned, the government policies are all bullshit. For example, I download music and at risk of a hefty fine. And don't get started on the fucking climate. It's about time someone spoke out.

Money sucks and I wish it didn't exsist. It makes people fight, just because of greed. If there wasn't money, the world would be better off.

That's true, but then they would start fighting about everything else: sex, drugs, property, etc.

No money is a medium of exchange. If it didn't exist something else would to allocate finite goods to infinate wants. Learn some econ.

Another medium of exchange would equal the exact same problem, obviously.

Do you know how naive the stance of "I wish money didn't exist" is?

I don't really know what to add Dush. I agree that a regime change is needed. Which is why I was so sketchy with the motives behind Live8. I don't think it is a problem that can simply be resolved by throwing money at it. Sure, money is needed... but it will be wasted if not accompanied by a lot of changes. I really don't know that much about Africa, but I know the issue is much more complex than people make it out to be.

Also, if you work for very little/free when you become a professional, I will respect you immensely for that.

So what you're proposing is a revolution of grad students?

That will never happen. College students are interested in politics for about the same length as their studies last, then they tend to get apathetic. (the majority.)

The revolution will happen among the oppressed, not the intellectuals.

The opressed are generally ambivalent. They tend to accept things.

I disagree with you both. The revolution will never happen.

Ever.

A revoultion will happen. They occur from time to time. Climate change aforementioned will bring a new era. What new era? Who knows.

Okay, sure, a revolution will happen. But it's infinitely more likely to be some kind of fascist despotic revolution, not some faggy liberal civil-rights lovefest style revolution. Nothing important will change, unless it changes for the worse.

Oh I agree, things are more likely to get worse than better after a crisis that puts the US out the equation. For all the evils people say the US do they keep order in a world that would be full of disorder without superpowers.

The oppressed are ambivalent for a period of time. Then the tide changes by whatever trigger there is. This is the history of all revolutions. It's not the students, but the peasants and workers. The homeless and hungry.

Or the religiously zealous, as I'm guessing it will be this time.

Fuck Islam.

wheelchairman

The religiously zealous and the oppressed are generally the same. That's why Denmark (a nation with a state religion) has next to no church attendance while the US, a nation with a governmental history of being indifferent to religion has a very strong christian sector in the rural areas.

Whatever, just speak it however you like as long as the point stays at "Slaughter the stinky muslims".
