He wanted to devote his energy to a band called Steady Ground. Plus, he wasn't getting along with Dexter, Noodles, and Greg anyway.

Ok, so say he left because he wasn't getting on with the other guys. Are they any particular reasons why they weren't getting along? I mean, if they just rubbed each other the wrong way, why leave now, after 16 odd years? Did anything in particular happen...?

Whaaat Ron was a great drummer, very underrated IMO. Anyways on the steadyboard site Ron has been saying Dexter was a power whore and wrote all the songs himself and wouldnt let anyone else add input so thats why he left. Dexter and Noodles said that Ron just was being an ass and not cooperating so they kicked him out.

Ron is grat drummer, but he was kinda Steady(Steady Ground-lol)if you compare live videos with Ron Welty and Atom you'll see that Atom really rocks, sometimes I have such a feeling that he is going to smash the fuckin drum into 1001 pieces,I really like that :)

I will believe the reason for him to leave when I hear it from Dexters, Noodles' or Gregs mouth...or read it from a magazine or something
And I think Ron is a great drummer and can't really comment on Atom cause he hasn't played any song for them.....let's see when he does...

where did you guys hear the stuff about him falling out with dexter, greg and noodles?! ron said on the steady ground forum that things arent always as they seem and that he wanted to be a part of something where songs were written as a band!

he also hired a coach before they recorded conspiracy of one - you can hear a difference in my opinion compared to the drumming on the few previous albums!

atom said in an interview that dexter is quite particular about how the drums sound

this together with the fact that ron was looking to experiment more led to him quitting in my opinion!

Ron Welty No Longer A Member Of The Offspring
(03/18/03) As of now, Ron Welty is no longer a member of The Offspring. “After more than 15 great years with The Offspring I‘ve decided to leave to devote all my energies on a new project called Steady Ground. I wish Dexter, Noodles and Greg the best of luck moving forward and it‘s time for me to focus on my own thing,“ said Ron.

The Offspring have hooked up with their friend Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, The Vandals) to play on the new record which will still be released this year. Dexter says ”After being together so long it will be weird doing stuff without Ron, but we are really looking forward to putting this new record out. We wish him the best.

All it took was checking the news section on the main page....

Also on here Noodles said Dexter write most the music and then they play it together and will fix it if nessicery which often isn't the case.
