View Full Version : Is peace truly obtainable?

All of the negativity and inequality would have to end, but all of the influences in the world (types of people, music, etc.) make so that this could never be achieved. How boring it would be too... everyone being the same is the only way?

Humanity to end, that's the only way.

Only through brutal oppressive fascism on a global scale is peace concievably obtainable. And it would undoubtedly cost billions of lives to implement.

And even then it'd be a good idea to have a constant controlled war to keep production demands up, although I'm not sure how neccessary that would be as I'm not an economist.

There's also the fact that you're pretty fucked up...

Ruroken... just.... shit, I don't even know what to say to you. I'm glad you took my little heart-to-heart seriously and are trying to assert yourself, but this is getting pathetic. It's like I'm in a river full of pirahna during feeding time, but none of them have teeth.

Just give up, boy.

What the hell are you talking about? It's obvious that you've got a twisted mind.

Sin Studly

A rational and realistic mind. Don't blame it on me just because the world is so horribly fucked-up that it desperately needs fascism.

I'm not BLAMING anybody. Well... I blame the corrupt that got us here...

That's a lot of people to blame, ruroken. That's like... everybody.

Blame human nature in general, if you want to blame anything.

You asked the question, he presents a theory. What was the need for that?

I don't think peace is obtainable. Ever. There will always be conflict in the world, it'll never be perfect.

but yeah i know wat you mean..

No;

"...events which happened in the past will (human nature being what it is), at some time or other and in much the same ways, be repeated in the future." Thucydides (I, 22)

People will never realize that war (especially in the name of religion) is pointless, this will lead to our inevitable downfall.

The only way to achieve full on peace...a balance between the planet and the things on it is if there is no people. That sounds odd...i know but in all probability a herd of lions isn't going to destroy the earth because of a squabble over an antelope or some shit like that, only we can.

Bar an all out nucelar war where a bunch of superpowers are lobbing nuclear weapons at each other on the scale of hundreds of war heads, it won't be our downfall. If by downfall you mean end.

The problem kinda rests with freedom of speach, there will always be someone to say NO, and they will.

Exactly, if we eliminate freedom of speech and freedom of expression and keep people enslaved under threat of torture and death there'll be no need for war. And if anybody tries to start anything they can be... well... excised from society, in much the same way as the beginning of a malignant growth.

peace is obtainable. at the moment the last of us humans will die, there will be peace.

peace is possible but highly unlikely
people are to selfish
unable to forgive
unable to even comprimise
(along with other things)
and theres alot of really, really stupid people out there to, that just get in the way and don't think
sure there will be fighting and a murder here and there thats kinda human nature

basicly people are ethier too stupid
or/and emotional or/and selfish
to not fight wars

I remember being told my humanities teacher, that in all of recorded history, there are only three consecutive years of no war.

I doubt it. Sin's idea would work, but will probably never be implemented. And if it is, something simialar to world war two will happen.

By peace, do you mean that everyone accepts eachother? Or do you mean that everyone is equal and therefore accepted by the rest. There is no way the first one could be possible, everyone will always believe that the other is wrong. It's human nature to believe only yourself. The latter, however, could be possible. Global socialism would be the only way to acchieve peace. But, do we really want our political and civil rights taken away so that we can do good for the rest of the world? I think that peace is nothing but a gasoline rainbow, looks nice, but isn't as great as it seems.

Dear me... to think I called old Thuce a "dreary crook, who misused facts & revelled in wearing the reader's patience thin".

I'm so sorry. I beg you, in your immense compassion, to forgive me.

you're so pathetic Jenny will have no choice but to forgive. :D

PS: "so pathetic" = joke

I called Thuce so in my... paean to Jen. Remember? Twas a poem, back in the halcyon days when I knew how to write poetry...

so you can't write poetry anymore ?
well, I can, and I'm quite good at it - thats what my teacher told me!

.......you called Thuc what?!?!?!? http://www.phpmyforum.de/images/smilies/mad.png

How could you!

I suppose I shall have to forgive you (albeit reluctantly) because, after all, you did write an amazing paean.
