Offspring was definitely one of the inspirations why I started to play the guitar.

i started playing guitar only because of the offspring. even now, after 1 year, i can play a bunch of offspring songs, and very few of other bands.

I don't play guitar but if I started (which I probably will) it would be because of them.

I started playing guitar 3 years ago because of Offspring. I used to have lessons but I know basic stuff so I just teach myself. Aren't the self taught ones the ones that turn out the best? :p (hey.. wasn't Dexter self-taught? hmmm.. thought so)

i'm self-taught. haven't had a single lesson the entire time i've been playing. i find that self-taugh guitarists tend to be the most inovative because they're not influenced by the same old stuff everyone who takes lessons gets. i like to try to come up with my own stuff, so i kinda just sit down with my guitar and mess around with it till i get a real cool sounding riff. rarely do i get a good riff though. offspring was the determining factor in getting my guitar though. i actually acidentcially discovered power chords. i didn't realize it was called a powerchord for the longest time. i also figured out the penatonic scale before i knew what it was called, mainly in part because of the old school punk band Agent Orange. the better i get at it, the more i want to play guitar. a lot of people say it takes talent to play guitar, but really it takes a lot of patience and practice.
