I made it a while ago, I just found a south park character and drew over him. and the hair is too orange.

I did all of these from the age of nine to about eleven, so dun make fun of me. I stopped drawing ever since for unknown reasons. I guess I never thought I was good enough.

I liked the last one best, because the hand looked so natural. hands are way difficult to draw, I think, & I never was really good at it.

you drew those between the ages of 9 and 11? jeeze, you shouldn't have stopped. i could never even hope to draw anything that good. i drew one good picture of a character from Dragon Ball Z when i was 14, but that was it. i've never been able to draw good since that one picture.

yeah, I know the feeling. sometimes you just get it right, the way you want it, or close to it, & sometimes your fingers just don't seem to cooperate with what's in your head.

And I like the girls bella drew, and DAMN you got the hands good! I (almost) never got the hands properly :/

I liked the stupid one most actually. =p I think it's pure awesomeness!
hands & eyes deserve all the practice in the world. beautiful. you've done quite a good job at them.

I'd love to draw again & find so much pleasure in it as I did.

Iza - now you've made me all curious. damn, I want to see your art!
& thank you so much for the compliment. *blush* it actually shows really small, that one darling hand I made, but in the real drawing it's a tad bigger (;p) & even NICERR!! god.. except for the drawing I made for my drawing-teacher's wedding with two hands putting rings on each other... that one little, tiny hand must be the best one I ever drew, besides the fact that it's absolutely shadow-less & flat. especially since I never drew again. blah.

I never tried doing hands alone... Maybe that would make me better at it. I've usually done it... Just the top part of the body/whole person. And always girls. I never mastered men, no matter how hard I tried (not that i tried that hard lol...)

And I miss my art, sometimes, I did some really cool stuff in art classes in school. The ones I always liked best were in pencil, or the thing I don't know the name of in english... Black liquid. I want my tiny artie back :/

Wait, I know! I drew some crap on philosophy last week, as I was bored beyond belief. Sucks, but it's the first time I've drawn anything in a loooong time. Yeah, now that i scanned I decided it sucks a lot. I did much better things at home, this was just a... Spur of the moment thing.

I never quite mastered men either!! always girls, ALWAYS, haha.
I've never drew hands seperately either, only that one time for my teacher.

I think the second one was beautiful. the one of the full girl. the pose is wonderful. I assume it's just a quick sketch, as it isn't very detailed, but it actually doesn't necessarily have to be. I like it quite a lot the way it is. you nailed all that was necessary; the pose, her body, her hair, the face, though it seems a bit expressionless. I guess that has to do with those details I talked about. anyway; niiiiiiiiiiiice<3 =)

Edit: oh, the second one changed in the first one now, hehe.

another faerie

something I copied from a painting my mom did (with pastels)

2 faeries I copied from drawings from brian froud (both with pastels)

a faerie (based on a drawing from amy brown)
http://img66.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img66&image=elfje.jpg

and a unicorn or something

the colors of the things i did with pastels arent really like that, but they look weird cause they're pictures of them.

There is a complete absence of details, since I had only a sucky pencil and a relatively tiny piece of paper. I'm used to bigger sizes...

If I ever get the old ones back, I'll let ya know, those were really pretty... My drawings of... Damn dunno the name in english, just drawings of a set-up the teacher makes... Like some jars on a chair with a cloth there... Yeah, I was good with those.

And Julie, those were just... Amazing. I loved the coloures, especially the one you copied from the pic your mom did. And the faries are just wonderful! I love it!

you all have some good talent going. i used to draw but i dont have enough free time as i used to. my friends used to let me draw on them during class when we were bored. they always told me to become a tattoo artist but i never was really all that into it. i just used to draw to keep busy those times i was all alone and bored locked up in my room and didnt feel like waking off

and izie, I think your sketches are pretty too, I wish I could draw people like that out of my head, cause most of the faces I draw are based on other pictures, when I draw them out of my head they look dead, or just really awkward and strange.

Yeah, the thing with me is, I don't imagine the people... I just draw and see what happens lol :) I did a self-portrait once which turned allright, so i figure I could draw people I saw too, but that would take SO much time and effort!

Hey, in my opinion drawing someone from a picture is really hard. I tried with a Johnny Depp picture and I thought it was good but almost no one recognized him :(. I think the part with your nose and eyes is pretty good. You should continue, you'll get better by practicing.

If it's any consolence, I couldn't draw a better picture of you. May I save that image? it is kinda funny. However, if you haven't drawn in years, than I really am quite impressed.

What I think went wrong with you was you focused too much on the individual details, that is why, for example, your mouth is larger than it should be. Try drawing things in their entirety. I may be wrong though.

fairy call
11-28-2004, 06:38 AM
^I think you're right

The individual details are pretty good actually, and the part without the mouth worked out pretty well too.
I mostly draw the basic lines first, so the proportions are right, maybe it's easier if you do that too (or maybe not, you can find out for yourself)

But I don't think it's bad at all, especially if it's a long time ago you drew something.

I'm really not very good at drawing I spend most of my time fixing mistakes so I like to draw out a rough sketch on paper and then scan it into my my computer and finish it. I really like working on computer as opposed to paper cause it's so simple to fix on computer but near impossible on paper. I've drawn a bit of manga and stuff but I don't think it's good enough to post.
Has anyone played the sims? I made some pretty cool outfits for the game with paintshop, does that count as art?

no you're right. I used to measure sizes of every feature of the face (& anything for that matter) on a piece of pencil & then I could even draw myself better, while looking in the mirror. now I just.. I lost that touch, of holding a pencil in front of me & seeing how big I want things to be & in what distance of each other.

I haven't drawn in ..let's see.. about 9 years. not one drawing. this is not discouraging me to start again, since I wonder IF I'll ever draw again anyway. so yeah, sure you can save it. =) it indeed *does* look slightly hilarious. I know I saved it for that reason. ;p

Oh and I hadn't noticed the queen of creeps drawing either, it's beautiful, I love it!

'Punk' Eyeore (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/6411211/)

Change Is Crucial... (http://www.deviantart.com/view/9478062/)

I got encouragements from here, to give drawing a try again. well, I can notify you on the fact, that after all these years, I really can't draw for shit anymore.

this was the picture I was trying to draw:
http://img89.exs.cx/img89/4656/today2.jpg

& this is what happened:
http://img99.exs.cx/img99/4895/arti5.jpg

but *this* part actually kind of worked out:

(too many images, this post will be continued)
the details are good, it's just out of proportion.

hey.
i used to draw all the time when younger and constantly doodle now so i prefer cartoony shit really but here's what happened:

my ex g/f was in to art. and i'm not really big on it at all. *insert major arguments here* which is what has caused me to hate crappy modern art

anyway we were watching Bridget Jones's Diary in Media Studies the other day, so i decided (being bored and all) to try to draw some pretty pretentious "artwork".
i just drew, with no real reason or aim and here's what happened.

2 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/vanbeef/man2.jpg

3 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/vanbeef/armman3.jpg

at first i didnt think anything of them, but they've kinda grown on me :S

note: so people dont get insulted, i dont think its art in the same sense as what you guys have drawn.

marty

p.s. no, im not emo either

Bullshit, it IS art. Art = means of expressing yourself, product of your creativity and many more definitions.

I have a question for you art people. I'm looking for a site that sells large (like 80cms X 60cms) replicas paintaings of historical battles. You know those paintings depicting rows and rows of fusileers and people laying dead all over and cavalary riders with swords and shit. A historic scene from Crimea or any of the Napoleonic wars will do. You know any site where I can find that? I so gotta get that for my new house.
