What does the old man say to Guy Cohen (The white guy) just in the beginning of Pretty Fly? I've never understood what he really says.

I'm not sure what it means, but it was sampled from the song Rock of Ages, by Def Leppard. I think it's German, though, but I'm not sure.

M'kay, right. Have never heard that Rock of Ages-song though.
Yeah, it looks as German.

it seems that "glauben" in german is "believe" ... but... maybe the word sounds like "glauben" but it's spelled different .... and the other ones seem to have no meaning in german

Well, it's not german, it's something random. At least that's what's said on 'Def Leppard''s official website. take a look at the FAQs:
http://www.defleppard.com/faq/index.html

So, the original phrase is:
"GUNTER GLIEBEN GLAUTEN GLOBEN" :D

no meaning... kinda trippy sounding... think it fits better w/ pretty fly than it does w/ rock of ages...

kinda tired...4:30am... not sleeping well lately...

sorry that my thoughts are kinda disjointed

Actually, I think I heard somewhere that it means nothing in particular. Just random german words from some other song. I think. Possibly.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_of_Ages_%28song%29), "Gunter glieben glauten globen" is a German-like nonsense phrase.

Yeah, kinda like the english "rama dama ding dong" or "give peace a chance".

It doesn't mean anything, it sounds German, and is a sample from the Def Leppard song Rock Of Ages.

That's it.. no more no less.

I heard Rock of Ages on the movie Balls of Fury today and I thought it was Pretty Fly even though I knew it wasn't it and the guy was wearing a damn Def Leppard T-shirt. Some days I feel so retarded. :p

Gunter glieben glauten globen

That doesnt make sense.
But if you take way the "g"s you get some random german words, don't know if that was supposed to be, but does it really matter?

What I wonder though is why the offspring picked it up for the song.

haha i got it seems to make no much sense but well...., the intro of the def leppard's song "rock of ages" is actually german, and the problem here is the bad pronunciation of Ronan McHugh...he wanted to say "unten=below" "grieben=graves" "grausen=horror" and "geloben=to vow. make a promise" .... below graves horror is promesed.. :confused:i guess.... oah by the way the ending "en" in this words mean that they are in 2nd and 3th
