ah. There probably is a good way, but I do not know it.

What I normally do is record it to my mobile phone then transfer the file to my computer - this allows me to then either listen to it via computer or burn it to cd. (bear in mind that there's probably a better way of doing it).

It'd have to be a pretty decent phone though because you can't transfer files to PC on some.

HOW TO TRANSFER TAPES TO CDs, WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE AIR AND PICKING UP NOISE (by ygokazuki)

First check your tape player for a headphone jack. There are two sizes - 1/4" (standard stereo, on older players), and 1/8" (mini stereo, on newer players).

--IF YOUR TAPE PLAYER HAS A 1/8" JACK--

1. Go to Tweeter or some audio store and ask for a 1/8" mini stereo male-to-male audio cable.
2. Plug one end into your tape player and the the other end into your computer microphone jack (unplug your microphone, duh).
3. Open up your volume control panel in Windows. Un-mute (if necessary) and raise the volume on the Microphone section.
4. Download Audacity (http://software-files.download.com/sd/sSNUT6CHizusaZ9TT-xpdnT2ObEgJg0PCMEApoAv1O1-Oe58m_9XnbuThq0HrC4nYpmRZeMOrNneVVJSOfg9tcG7IBvB9i o5/software/10325373/10058117/3/audacity-win-1.2.2.exe?ptype=3001&ontid=2170&siteId=4&edId=3&pid=10325373&psid=10058117) and install it. This is a recording program which you should use to create wave files out of your tapes.
5. In Audacity, start recording, and immediately start playing the tape.
6. Stop Audacity after the first track has finished playing, and immediately stop playing the tape.
7. Go to File->Export as WAV, name, and save the wave file somewhere where you'll remember (Desktop's good).
8. Repeat the process for all tracks.
9. Now you have a bunch of wave files on your computer! Use your preferred burning utility to burn them to a CD in your desired order.

--IF YOUR TAPE PLAYER HAS A 1/4" JACK--

1. Go to Tweeter or some audio store and ask for a 1/8" mini stereo male-to-male audio cable, and a 1/8" to 1/4" audio cable adapter.
2. Plug one end into the adapter and then your tape player and the the other end into your computer microphone jack (unplug
your microphone, duh).
3. Open up your volume control panel in Windows. Un-mute (if necessary) and raise the volume on the Microphone section.
4. Download Audacity (http://software-files.download.com/sd/sSNUT6CHizusaZ9TT-xpdnT2ObEgJg0PCMEApoAv1O1-Oe58m_9XnbuThq0HrC4nYpmRZeMOrNneVVJSOfg9tcG7IBvB9i o5/software/10325373/10058117/3/audacity-win-1.2.2.exe?ptype=3001&ontid=2170&siteId=4&edId=3&pid=10325373&psid=10058117) and install it. ygokazuki: I've got Audacity as audio editor, I just love this programm!!! Didn't know it was so famous :D (I specially like the way you can remove background noise with it, it's great). You can export the files as mp3 too, by downloading some dll-file.

Download albums? How do you still have the guts to be in an OFFSPRING forum asking that? Go buy them, or the FBI will hear about this.

Yeah, but there's no point in exporting them to MP3 if they're going to be burned to an audio cd; re-conversion will be needed.

HELP ME SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE TO BUY ALBUMS?

You realize that the Offspring support music downloads? They had Conspiracy of One on the website for free downloading; they wanted to put Americana up for a free download, but Columbia threatened to sue them; and Napster threatened to sue them for distributing shirts bearing the Napster logo without permission from Napster.
I think you get the idea.
I'm starting to buy the albums; right now I have burned copies of them all, and the reason I want to buy the albums is for the album art. So far I have Splinter, Greatest Hits, Ixnay on the Hombre, and self-titled. I'm thinking of re-buying Splinter though, because it doesn't work that well anymore, and I lost the album book thing.

I think they only shared one song of CO1 on their website (Original Prankster).

Lay-by the albums you don't have. You don't need to put a lot on them, and you can pay it off, instead of downloading all the songs. At least try to get the official albums with the artwork.

Of course, you're both right! ^ and ^^. It's like ripping the original album to .mp3 files. You can have the mp3 files in your computer, as long as you possess the original!

ygokazuki, thanks so much for those instructions on how to convert the tape into digital audio. I have tons of tapes to convert now. And just to let you guys know, I had already bought greatest hits, splinter, and americana CDs. I just can never find the old albums (mainly the ones from epitagh) I think they are out of print or somethings, because they are impossible for me to find. But I do have tapes of Ignition and Smash, so I can now convert thoses. Thanks for the help!

You can always try Rhapsody 25 (http://www.rhapsody.com/freemusic) . It is free and legal so you won't have to feel like you are ripping anyone off. It gives you 25 streams per month and you can actually burn them to cd's if you wish. I also like the ad free radio especially when I am at work.
