Once and for all, this is the LAMEST, most pathetic argument EVER. If your thread is so ultimately, pathetically awful that a lot of people comment on the fact that it's so pathetic, they have the right - no no, the DUTY to say so. "If you don't like the thread, don't post in it" is just.. lame beyond words. Don't use it.

That is all.

i don't think it's a good defense, but it's a valid point. if you post in a thread just to insult the author and/or point out how stupid it is, all you do is inflate the post count of it and bump it to the top. if it's stupid do your part and let it die.

Actually, that's not what I'm saying. That's not what I'm saying at all. Infact that's the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I'm saying.

There's a difference between trashing a thread's existence and trashing the thread starter him/herself though. Usually the former leads into the latter, which makes the "If you don't like a thread, don't post in it!" argument totally irrelevant.

you can't 'interupt' a 'discussion' on forums. Forums is a place where opinions and views are expressed in a manner of a discussion about the topic. You just found this topic and decided to make a completely useless statement which you could've done on MSN, AIM, etc.

nevermind, I got confused with conversation (verbal). But, I also said in manner of, which also means 'like'.

What I meant with that post was that we WERE having a discussion, but you decided to input something that has nothing of value.

So, pretty much you're just trying to play kiss ass to the moderator?

I know you were having a discussion, one that wasn't going anywhere and one that wasn't important in the least, which is why I decided to just say what I wanted to say while the guy was still in the topic.

http://www.offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13922

Could that have not been asked in PM? Yet, I see no one jumping his ass about it.

And I can find a lot more topics like that.

are you an idiot? Thread like those I don't bother read nor reply (sometimes). Also, those aren't even 'real' discussions. Besides, I most probably wasn't online whemn that was posted. The matter is that this discussion was still going, and you made no contribution at all and just wasted space, that's why I suggested MSN, AIM, etc. Think before you post.

EDIT: Kissing the moderator's ass? the fact that a moderator has nothing to do with this. I don't really give a shit if a moderator made this thread or not. I've been telling people things like this for a long time, even in threads that a moderator didn't make. Shock, I know.

So, what should we say when someone who made a thread about the image on dexter holland's t-shirt called our thread stupid? And if the thread is stupid and meaningless people should say the reasons too. But when they call threads stupid without any reason what else can you do?

The most normal thing to do when you think a random thread is stupid or lame, or you don't have an useful opinion to share, is really not to post on it! But that's just the way I see things...

You can post on it anyway, but that's dumb, unless you have no better use for your precious time... ups why am I posting in this thread, I'm outta here

You can ignore people who go into a thread only to call it stupid, and continue your conversation as though it didn't happen. People who do that are only looking for attention, anyway. Don't give it to them. I think TUNB originally posted this topic aimed at the people who go into topics just to say that it's dumb. If they really thought it was dumb they wouldn't have opened it in the first place.

Additionally--what's up with all this 'omfg you're just kissing the moderator's ass' business? What, because someone agrees with TUNB it's going to make him like them more and then maybe he'll let them post some porno pictures? What could a person possibly get from kissing a mod's ass, which would ostensibly be the reason for kissing said ass? We mods really don't do much at all.

I don't know if that was directed to me, so I don't know if I should answer it. Anyway, I just mentioned what I saw in this forum, let me explain. Just like this: one person posts pics of extremely hard pornographic content. Like girls shitting, ya know. Kinda sick. Then I reported that post to a moderator. Also, there was a thread made in general chat which was about moderators "jobs" I can't quite remember (I'm not sure, but the topic was something like "we need no rules"), and I mentioned that people didn't respect the rules anyway, so what's the use for moderators. And one of those moderators told me something like "oh, we actually don't care, the "X" person is posting porn pics all the time, we're used to that". So why listing rules in sticky threads if in the end a few people don't respect them, and some mods even laugh at it?

It's not a lame reason, if you don't like a thread don't post in it. Or make some better threads.

Sin Studly
08-16-2005, 04:19 AM
It's a semi-valid point, but people cite it in the lamest way possible. For example.

Moron A makes a retarded thread.
Ten people tell Moron A that his/her thread is retarded.
Moron A cries like a baby and says "omfg if u don't like it don't post in it".

It's as bad as the "I only made this retarded thread cause I'm bored" excuse.

That being said, the whole "If you think this board sucks, just fucking leave, don't make lame threads about it" statement holds some serious water.

TheUnholyNightbringer
08-16-2005, 05:21 AM
But that's a completely different thing. I'm talking about using "if you don't like the thread, don't post in it" when everyone's on your back telling you how retarded your thread is, and you refuse to accept just how utterly worthless the thread actually is.

"If you don't like the board, just leave" is 100% true.
