Now,
today, my friend came appealing to me for help.

Apparently he woke up and discovered a small lump on his penis, about the size of a bb pellet he tells me. And asked me for advice.

I looked into it a bit, and i reassured him that it probably isn't cancer, as it wouldn't pop up over night. That is unless he's lying and the problem has been going on for a while. Which i hope he isn't.

Anyway, to tell the truth, I don't know what to say to him, he can't really see a doctor because he's not much of an outdoor person, and has expressed to me his incapability of telling his parents.

As far as i know, its only been there for a day, and hasn't been much of a problem for him. As far as my little medical knowledge go's, I told him not to worry, and monitor it.

Do you guys know anything about this kind of problem?

I'm a med school student & I've never in my life heard of peniscancer.
I'm only in the first year, though, & for the second time. so I'm not all that trustworthy.

a carcinoma can show in several ways. for instance as a birth mark, itching, changing colour & shape. also as a lump, but that mostly occurs in breasts, near the armpits, in throats, heads, anywhere where lymphatic vessels go... not on dicks. not as far as I know, or can think of.

if I were your friend I'd stop worrying about peniscancer & get myself a STD test. it could also be a form of fungus. it sounds gross, but it actually occurs very frequently (I, by the way, only know that from numbers).

& tell him to tuck away his shyness & get the fuck to a doctor, if he slightly values his buddy down there. his little pride's health is at stake.

He's wrong though. It is kinda funny actually.

Isn't there a confidentiality clause for doctor's in your country? *checks*

why doesn't your friend google it?? I'm sure you can find all kinds of penisproblems all over the net.

And most likely more problems than you even want to know about.
The internet is a bad place for hypohondriacs :/

Well, as far as i know he hasn't had sex, although he claims his gf gives him head, but as far as im awear STDs can;t be transmitted orally..

If its a fungus, is it really serious enough to require a doctor?, I will suggest this to him tomorrow anyway, thanks for your input so far guys,

& by the way, his parents don't need to know about this. not at all, even. he can just make an appointment with his doctor & make a visit. I can't imagine he/she would ring his parents. I've visited mine (& he's a very close friend of my parents) for tons of reasons I didn't want my parents to know about (birth control, morning after pill..) & it's always worked out fine. it's no biggy.

My theory is usually that things'll just go away by themselves eventually... it has worked out for me so far, but I know I'll get into trouble sometime. But really, if he doesn't want to see a doctor, and it doesn't seem to be a serious problem (e.g. not overly painful, etc.), then waiting a while to see if it goes away shouldn't be an issue.

Again, I am not a professional and take no responsibility for serious complications arising from not seeing a doctor.

you can transmit herpes orally. it's rather common. I think most other STD's too.

if it indeed is fungus, which you also can get from oral sex & simply dirt, if you're not the cleanest of guys, it might be wise to see a doctor to be sure what type of fungus. there are many of them & even more types of medications to get rid off them.

I wouldn't wait until it simply goes away, at least I don't think it's sensible. STD's symptoms have the tendency to pop up & disappear again. the virus will still be present & you may never be able to have babies again. even if you wanted to.

Well that's what I've suggested to him, of course, if things get worse then I'll get him to see a doctor. To get an STD wouldn't his girlfriend have to have had it first?, I don't think she has ever had sex before either. They're only 15, and both virgins, Im 18.

Are fungi serious?

JoY

you can get herpes on your lip from kissing, buddy. never seen that before??

I don't think it's fungus. now I think of it I don't believe it's very common on genitals. bacteria are, though. it could be a rash from that. just let him keep it clean (for God's sake..) & treat it carefully. nicely.

a STD test.

fine, I don't know why I'm doing this, but I'll google it. this has to be solved some way. I don't know what your friend's dick looks like, but he can see if he's got any of these symptoms:

there.

This topic is nasty. You guys (especially JoY) are very considerate and caring here, I respect you for what you're doing.
I hope your friends problem is sorted out very soon.

I hope I could be of any help. especially since the case is medical, it'd be nice if I was.=)

wish your friend good luck & tell him, that if he wants to get rid off any insecurities about what it might be & wants to have it fixed, it's best to visit a doctor. whatever it is, even if it's nothing important. I'd be very disturbed, if I'd find any lumps on my body, or anything else abnormal for that matter, let alone on my genitals. I'd visit a doc, just to be reassured.

haha, I didn't read that before. very extremely true. XD

& thanks Idiot.=) I try.
(it feels so offensive to call you 'Idiot', every time I refer to you in any way... is there any other option for me? I wouldn't normally ask this, but your postername forces me to *giggles*)

If it is on the shaft there is nothing to worry about
it is probably just a pimple and it will go away.

You can get spots on your cock. I mean acne spots that might be cystual acne so it looks like a big lump under the skin. That might be it. Hopefully.

joY, thanks for your help, I'll report everything you've said to him. Hope he calms down. He has a tendency to over react, but if I was to ignore him one day, about a problem he has, it might be serious.

very well said.
if I've got a simple headache, I can nag for days about it & how it hurts so much. but when I broke my leg in three pieces, I didn't say a thing & when I finally did as calmly as possible my parents almost didn't believe me. when I said I thought it'd be best to visit a hospital, they listenend. haha, I hate hospitals.
