And as one sees most fearful things
In the crystal of a dream,
We saw the greasy hempen rope
Hooked to the blackened beam,
And heard the prayer the hangman's snare
Strangled into a scream.

And all the woe that moved him so
That he gave that bitter cry,
And the wild regrets, and the bloody sweats,
None knew so well as I:
For he who lives more lives than one
More deaths than one must die.

Fucking Christ, I loved this. Read the full ballad here (http://www.pmms.cam.ac.uk/~gjm11/poems/reading)

It's pretty fucking long, yeah. I read it, then started over again. Twice. I'm like, blown away by it.

Oscar was the coolest pedophile of all time.

Ooh, Mr. Dandy himself. I've read a lot by Oscar but never his poetry/ballads so this was kinda new to me and a bit different. But still, especially V reminded me of Wilde a lot. He writes well and I should re-read it because if I ever read poetry I need to read it twice. The idea of killing people we love, whether it's literal or metaphorical, seemed interesting and he made the prison sound so melodical. At least to me.

You've only just discovered Reading Gaol?

He did not wear his scarlet cloak
for blood and wine are red...

Tis my favourite poem - I know the first half off by heart.

ah yes, I'm sorry. But actually, we haven't studied Oscar Wilde at school - my brother told me to read him.

You should check out the picture of Dorian Gray - very good indeed.

I'm reading it now, not very far in.
