I am hearing a lot of talk about how people should not use Internet Explorer as their main browser anymore, due to it being unsafe.

I have tried Opera and Firefix and want to know what everyone thinks is the best browser.

Firefox has done me well, I need to try out Safari.

I've tried Mozilla, InternetExplorer and Firefox. And I prefer Mozilla, although... well, on this poll you've made only one option for Mozilla/Firefox, they're 2 different browsers  But yeah, I voted for it!

Firefox. I see no [native] Linux browsers on the list though... overall Firefox is probably the best anyway, though.

Safari is very good although I sometimes have little problems with it. I think it's better than Explorer anyway.

I just read the FireFox site info about the browser and it seems a lot better than Explorer.

But some programs and hardware (i.e. my printer) require the latest Explorer version to be installed. Doesn't that mean i'll mess up my programs/hardware if i install FireFox?

A lot of software hijacks features of IE, and thus requires it to be installed. So it'd be unwise to remove IE. The answer's to just stop using it.

does it crash on start or something? if you don't mind re-importing your bookmarks, just delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\$USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\*

i might be a bit off at the end of that, i don't remember if it's in mozilla/firefox or mozilla firefox/ or maybe just firefox/... but you get the idea. that'll remove your profile which includes any themes, extensions, and bookmarks you had... if you'd like to just remove the theme it's a bit harder, but can be done.

firefox also supports http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_Bookmark , but for some reason it isn't mentioned on the features page. i'll add it later.

Suddenly, it's more than a bit slow, though it may just be my computer.

0r4ng3
09-02-2005, 11:14 AM
They surely are, but I'm not used to it. I keep hovering my mouse over the taskbar, only to see one Firefox window. I did that for the sixth time just now.

Tizzalicious
09-02-2005, 11:18 AM
You'll get used to them soon enough, and then you won't know how you lived without them. At the moment I have 8 tabs open. I don't know what I did with all of that on my taskbar.

I love how Firefox allows you to open a new window in the same window, the favourites bar, the easier interface... Well, most everything anyways. The Explorer e is forever forgotten in the desktop now.

Yeah, thanx, that's what i thought, so i've just let Explorer rest.

Internet Explorer had a favorites bar too, you just had to know how to show it. Unless, I'm thinking of the wrong favorites bar.

Oh i guess it did, i'm not sure. I'm reffering to the bar below the navigation bar, with the icons to the favorites.
If IE had it, i just didn't feel like customizing it because of the annoying interface.

Annoying interface? All you had to do was move favorites into the Links folder. It's like moving bookmarks into the bookmarks toolbar folder.
