I downloaded Siren Song of the Counter Culture and despite the vocals and the depressive "emo"-like lyrics, they are alright - musically, some songs are really good. Still, not THAT great though, I wouldn't rate them or recommend them, and I reckon in time I will get fed up of them and delete their songs. But they're fairly good, and I wondered if anyone else likes them.

Yes, I do. Jhonny gave me some of their albums and I think they're really good.

Yeah they're okay. I bought Siren Songs of the Counter Culture, and then I downloaded a few of their old songs, and yes, they seem to be 'emo' with the new CD. Well, only a few songs.

I like them a lot. I've only heard Siren Songs of the Counter Culture though, I'll probably check out their other CDs.

don't know about the last one, but all their albums have had mostly personal lyrics. maybe check Revolutions Per Minute

Rise Against is definately in my top 3. My favourite album is actually their first one, The Unraveling. But the other two are great aswell.

Depends on what you define as emo. Emo isn't just "cuting" your wrists over a split-up with your girlfriend. In my opinion, "emo" is basically emotional lyrics along the lines of anger, desperation, depression, or how crap your life is. And Rise Against (from when I have listened to them - I haven't actually looked up the lyrics to any of their songs) sing some songs about these kind of things.

They have growin on me a bit more now, though I still prefer Revolutions Per Minute.

Yeah, the lyrics in Swing Life Away talk about cutting your wrists and crying in the corner of the room and how you want to die because your new pair of tight jeans won't fit.

I like them. 'Revolutions Per Minute' is pretty cool.

swing life away must be one of their worst

Revolutions Per Minute all the way. "To The Core" is one of my favorite songs of all time. I listen to it before every baseball game.

Swing Life Away isn't all that bad of a song. Acoustics are good.

I like the Unraveling... Six Ways 'Til Sunday is my favorite song on that album.

I must get it! I also want their new album.

I only have the newest album, but I really like it, and it's probably the CD I've been listening to most lately.

And guys, does it really matter if it's emo? This whole argument over what's punk/emo/pop/pop-punk/emocore or whatever else that's constantly going on here is really getting annoying and pointless. Do you like it? Then it doesn't matter what the fuck the genre is.

I downloaded it. 'Bricks' and 'Drones' are awesome.

And I also agree with paragraph no. 2. If you like a band, you like a band. If you don't, you don't. Genre doesn't really matter much!

This reminds me. I saw an article about them in some magazine. They must've said "emo", like, eight times. Just to clear the confusion. Or create more.

Prayer Of The Refugee is the standout from the new album.

I think Chamber the Cartridge, Injection, Drones, Under the Knife, and Roadside(best Rise Against ballad) are the best on the new album.

Which is why I am not/didn't even care to listen to The Sufferer and The Witness and Siren Song. I'm still a Rise Against fan, however. Just particulary based on anything previous. Boy, am I reminded of AFI.

The Suffererer & The Witness is at least 10 times better than Siren Song! True its not as good as RPM, but IMO its their 2nd best album.

For hating Siren Song? I wasn't expecting Rise Against to go back to their Revolutions ways.

I did give Sufferer and the Witness a shot, finally. It isn't bad at all. I totally agree with offspringjon in every aspect.

I can't stand Sufferer and the Witness. I think it'll grow on me but only a little bit. As it being better than SIren Song, I disagree.

Rise Against definitely kick ass! IMO, their last two albums, Siren Counter of the Culture and The Sufferer and the Witness, are classics. "Pray of the Refugee" is also a classic hit from them. I hear they'll be coming back with another album this year, which (of course) I'm looking forward to.

I don't take other people's opinions into account. People have told me that Rise Against sucks, and that's a lie to me right there. So essentially, I'll just ignore that.

Personally, liking ever song of an album has always been really hard for me. Even with 1 or 2 offspring albums. But Siren Song of the Counter Culture was AMAZING all the way around. Except for like one song which is Blood to Bleed.

I'm not a huge fan but i like their songs.

I'm very moody with them though. As in i could only listen to their stuff when I'm in the mood for it.
