I have right now 28 gb on music on my computer :), I would like to check out if that's the average so that's why I added an poll.

damn that's fucked up... How the fuck can I add an poll now? I must have been clicking on something that putted it online before I was ready.

Well tell me just how much gb you have then.

Well, fair enough then =P

I have 19 Artists, not including all the shit i've got off limewire. If I added that, i'd probably have about 75 artists =/

30 full albums...

About 100ish downloaded tracks...

All adding up to about 33 hours worth of music. =|

714 mb :o I thought it was more.

how do you figure out how much gb the music takes up?
You just mark the folder you have it in and choose "properties".

Oh, and you can still add a poll. Click on that little Thread Tools menu and choose Post a Poll (or something like that).

I don't think he got's music on his computer, it's just the musicprogram that takes that amount of kb in.

He might just mean 46KB...but that's still not much. About 1 album's worth.

Offspring7
09-27-2005, 03:27 PM
maybe i added something wrong. thats how much space it takes up on my computer according to properties. lets see...i have approximately 127 songs that i listen to daily...and a ton of others in other playlists and library on windows media player that i don't feel like counting up. so there might be something wrong with the #of kb that properties shows.

No. A normal mp3 is 128kb per second, so I think she did something wrong. =/

Are you looking under:

"___'s documents ---> My music ---> My playlists"?

Oh, but then you can just open the Library and check in the lower right corner.

Yeah....and that =P According to WMP Library, I actually have 1.93GB of music. Whoo, yay, go me.

I had a 200gig hd (that crashed) plus another 100gig partition of my current hard drive filled with crap I downloaded off net. It includes movies and mp3s alike. I'm not sure whats the ratio though, but if I had to guess I think I had over 40gigs of music alone. At the heigh of suprnova and torrent swaps, I was downloading-non-stop any file I came across. Usualy I grabbed entire discographies of bands, where the songs would sometimes double on both the original album and compliations.

My Pink Floyd and Beatles discography alone were over 4 gigs each (i think, but it wasnt far from it at any case). Add to it dozens of other bands plus hundreds of random albums and you get a rather large collection. Easily over 40gig. And that's of course not including the cds and dvds I already burnt.

Sufficient to say- i've had all my "favourites" (which doesnt include the regular crap) fill up my ipod up to 18gig. That was over 3000 songs.

But i've seen people with more. Mostly the techno junkies who download at 320bitrates a bunch of tunes that sound the same to me personally, but whatever.

3-4 gigs... not gonna check... actually I did... 3.83. I have hard copies of most stuff.

At first I thought "40 gigs... how could you even listen to that much?" but I guess putting it into perspective that's about 300 - 500 albums... which is lots... but in theory you could listen to most of it.

It's sorta silly to have a bunch of stuff just for the sake of having it, unless of course you entertain or DJ or something.

I shouldn't have posted in this thread. I don't want to be associated with these people.

Edit (to Trippy): Poor and proud. Plus, this thread has nothing to do with piratism. Ever heard of ripping CDs?

I think it's better to go to concerts, buy fanwear etc. than buy the cd of an artist in an store (Cause the store will get more money cause U bought it than the artist itself). And if u don't buy cd's u have more money left for going to concerts and going to concerts is one hell of an great thing :D
