Watch the trailer for this movie. It looks absolutely stunning, like a surrealist painting come to life. Unfortunately, it's only coming out in limited release and doesn't look like it's going to be anything more than that until at least January. This is probably the only time I've ever actually considered driving to NYC just to see a movie before it's released in regular theaters. I want to see it so bad!

i'd like to see it, but i don't wanna drive to LA to do so...

the only movie i've driven to LA to see is Jiminy Glick in LaLaWood

There's a Jiminy Glick movie...? That's terrible.

I forgot, this place is full of people that like stuff like "The Day After Tomorrow" so no one's gonna care about this. It's done by the same folks as the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth for anyone that likes those movies.

Hmmmmmm... it's not getting great reviews (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/mirrormask/). I might wait for video, but this does seem like a movie to see on the big screen. On cough syrup.

It's getting very mixed reviews. People either love it or hate it. It seems like the type of movie that's almost pure style with little to offer with substance and everyone's hating on it for that. It seems like it would be very dream-like to me. If they pull off the style and the atmosphere, the characters and plot are pretty much worthless so long as they're not actively offensive. It'll be like having a 2 hour trippy dream and when you wake up you're actually able to remember every minute of it.

what i liked was the atmosphere. The story is not very original as far as i've read. But the FX, colors, photography and the atmosphere seem great.

I would watch it simply for looking visually interesting. If the characters and plot aren't up to much though, I won't like it. Characters especially. It certainly appears to have the Neil Gaiman feel, but I can't quite decide how I feel about him. I enjoyed a lot of American Gods, but I struggled through some of it. I enjoyed Good Omens which he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett, but not as much as most Terry Pratchett books. Knowing somthing of Gaiman, this might well feel like a graphic novel on screen, and I don't like graphic novels as a rule.

So apparently this is out on DVD now. I just picked up a copy from Wal-Mart. Yay!

I actually did manage to see it in theaters a few months back too so that was nice. Generally it was very good with only like 1-2 spots where the story was a bit "meh".

i actually bought it last weekend, but i haven't had a chance to see it yet.
