View Full Version : New Rules

1. If you're replying to the last post in a thread, you don't have to quote it. Most people are intelligent enough to understand that you're talking about the post directly above yours, and those not smart enough to realize it don't deserve an explanation.

2. If you're replying to a long post, you don't have to quote the last thing - we can usually guess which post you're replying to if you only quote the first sentence, or even reference the person that wrote that post.

3. If you criticize someone for a specific spelling or grammar error rather than a habitual problem with communication, you have no argument and are only hurting yourself.

4. If you follow a member of the boards around the bbs and insult them in threads unrelated to some earlier petty argument, you've already lost. No, not just the argument, the game of life.

5. Multiple accounts can only be handled by professionals. I can count on one finger multiple accounts that have been amusing, all others are only funny to the people that make them. And yes, you may enjoy it, but it's like masturbating in public - whatever meager pleasure you may receive from it, in the long run you're just fucking yourself.

People found violating these rules will receive a thorough tongue-lashing. And no, not the fun kind. I'll use words against you like some sort of Hellish fusion of Heinrich Himmler and Shakespeare.

That is all.

P.S.

6. If you have nothing to add to a thread, don't bother replying. If the thread is about BBS-related dreams, nobody wants to hear that you haven't had one. If the thread is about pets, we aren't eagerly awaiting the fact that you've never had a pet. If the thread is about lobotomies, nobody gives a flying fuck you haven't had one. Don't ever bother flirting with the "Reply" button, you worthless waste of mass.

7. "Hahahahahaha", or any varieties thereof, is never a legitimate reply. Ever. Even if you're trying to be ironic, "Hahahahahahaha" isn't nearly enough of an ironic post to be amusing.

8. If you don't like someone, and someone else insults them, don't support their post. See #4.

Can I add:

7. If you are quoting someone and you are only replying to one bit of the post, delete the other parts.

Oh, and quoting even if it's the last reply isn't all that bad, it's not needed when there's no one else online, but when there are more people replying at the same time, a lot of time suddenly someone else gets in between, which makes you have to edit saying "that was to blablabla"

Jesus Christ, you guys are fucking Nazis...It's a fucking forum, not a death camp...

If you start to recognize a quote as a post that you've already read, scroll past it...It takes very little finger strength and concentration to scroll past something...

These rules are like saying, "If you don't like a tread's creator or subject matter, don't go in it"...It's so self-explanatory that it shouldn't even be said...

The rules are good, although I've broken some of them.

If I could choose one person to become the new Admin here, it'd be Mota Boy.

I was going to make a post breaking as many rules as possible, but break already did it. Plus, idiots are bound to do it inadvertantly anyways.

Normally I'd rape you and then kill you for a post like that, but since your my friend, instead I'll kill you before I rape you.

And Hydro-Nuts - I'm not banning anyone that breaks these rules, I'm not deleting their posts, and I'm not gassing their entire race. This is one of the more lax forums I've ever been a part of; don't get your panties in a bunch because suggest certain codes of conduct that would make the forum flow easier. "Holy shit, a random member of the bbs doesn't want me typing 'Hahahahahahahaha'! The Fourth Reich is upon us!"

Omg, like totally agree!
And we have another nominee for this year's Pulizer prize in posting.

Not only do we Anarkist (learn to spell, Vera!) encourage abortions but we provide all abortees with salt and water to go with it. And a free ice cream on the 5th abortion!

What? Because people like the look of their own posts? (You know, as opposed to saying, "Because people like the sound of their own voice?"

And Hydro-Nuts - I'm not banning anyone that breaks these rules, I'm not deleting their posts, and I'm not gassing their entire race. No, no...I know what you mean...But the likelyhood of people actually changing their posting habits because of a set of rules that is posted is fairly unlikely...The people that do have those annoying habits are only going to learn by being on the recieving end of several e-bashings...That is, assuming that they care whether or not anyone likes them in the e-world...

Then again, You just kinda have to go with the feel of the forum you're on...This one is way more uptight than the 311 BB that I'm generally on...The 311 BB's Random Thoughts Forum is relatively fast paced (More topics, more often) and is more like a chat room...

There is a difference in rules is that you guys like to have your posts a certain way, whereas the 311 BB is more concerned with content...IE: The use of certain words and no naked pics...All the 311 forums are moderated by one of the band member's mother...

For the purposes of this forum, I agree with your rules, for the most part...But I think that most people should be able to figure them out on their own...They all seem to be common sense rules for this forum...

coke_a_holic

Which is something part of this BBS chronically lacks.

Well, in theory Mota's rules, although ridiculously obvious, could help some people. Some newer posters reallydon't understand the unspoken rules behind a message board and truly want to be liked so might actually heed them. There have been a few examples of people who have changed how they post to fit in better.

God, I was so drunk when I read that, that I didn't even know it was out of context, I just realised there were words that didn't make sense. And I tried to type a reply, but I couldn't, so I made Willem do it.
