They're mentioned like 3 times in this rock music history book thing(I forgot the title, but its purple). Once under the origin section(there's one per year), once for Smash(there's a picture with that one), and once for the whole Napster thing. (There might of been a fourth, but I'm not too sure.)

My dad has a music book with many band's that have done alot and become famous. Offspring isn't in it. But Sex Pistols, Nirvana, Abba, Beatles, Roxette is in it. I know that some really small bands (and "one-hit-wonders") is in it. I want Offspring in that book!

Ha! I found the book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0789496496/qid=1128725151/sr=1-10/ref=sr_1_10/002-3647218-4789620?v=glance&s=books)I was talking about! It's a really good book, actually, but If you read it in the store, don't set it on your lap. Use a table or something. ut anyways, it talks a lot more then just albums and songs. It also has stuff about benifit concerts, controversy(like when Wal-Mart almost didn't carry A Boy Name Goo because of the cover), jailtime, artist origins(including the only mention of Good Charlotte(who really don't belong there, but hey, it's only once)), and multiple mentions of my second favorite band, the Goo Goo Dolls! Yayness! ^.^[/salesperson]

Honestly, the offspring isn't legendary at all.

^ Agreed. Great, great band... but not legendary. They've never really been huge and famous in the music world, and probably won't be.

The sad thing is, the song they are most known for is their worst.

There are very few people/bands that get to that level of stardom. Few people have done it, And I doubt many more will come for a long time.

Hendrix, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Elvis, Miles Davis. Maybe the Ramones. Possibly a few others.

In Your/my Opinion, The offspring could be better than these people. However, there is no way in hell they will be anywhere near as famous as them.

There are TONS of bands that have gained more stardom than the Offspring.

who cares if they go down in history or not, they kick ass anyways

and the other ppl who said this earlier are right, they would only go down for their most popular songs which usually turn out to be the worst.

You Obviously misunderstood my post. I was not implying that There are few bands that achieve the offspring's level of stardom, I was implying the very opposite.

By saying that there are very few bands that get to that level of stardom, I was using 'that' referring to the people in my post: the beatles, Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Elvis, Ramones and Miles Davis. Additionally, I pointed out that there is no way the offspring would come close to that amount of reknown.

I hope this clears up you thinking I was a complete numbskull?
