I just know some of you love retro games, so what have you been playing recently, and what are your all time favourites?

I've been indulging in a bit of Donkey Kong Country and Mario All Stars. Good times.

Well, you need the ROM files and an emulator, so google should cover that, but for arcade games, http://www.tripletsandus.com/80s/80s_games/arcade.htm.

Seeing as I've basically been flat on my back for 5 days I've not had much time for games. But if I was up I'd be playing something like Vigilante 8 or maybe a little Mario Kart.

Anways, apparently some ROM sites have been asked to remove any ROMs affiliated with Mario and Donkey Kong. Jayzus...

I downloaded SimTower the other day, and I've been playing it a lot. Does that count as old school, if it's not for a console?

Well I suppose so, I'm not sure what exactly constitutes to a game to make it retro.

Guess it's debatable, I'd basically call any game from the 16-bit era or earlier 'retro' or 'old school'.

I still have all my old gear, and sometimes pull out my old nes, blow the dust off and play mario. but sometimes it don't work, this is mainly because the first ones made was dodgy, and I have one of those. :D

I played Earthworm Jim a while back with friends after attempting some Mario Kart. The girls above me have a regular Nintendo, but I haven't yet played it.

And I consider SNES and Sega to be old school. They came out when I was still in elementary school. If anyone in college has one of those systems sitting on their TV's, it's pretty retro.

Yeah well, although those console games are quite old, the real old school is ZX Spectrum, Commodore AMIGA, MSX, etc. Many of you guys weren't even born at that time :)

I don't play none of those for a while, but I have on my possession a few emulators and ROMs to play those games on my PC. I love the internet.

My favorites of that time are Bomb Jack, Chuckie Egg, and perhaps Flying Shark. Awesome games! All for ZX Spectrum.

The site doesn't work here =/ Does it have bubble bobble? I LOVE that. I dowloaded it somewhere once, my sister and I used to fight over the PC to play it. But it suddenly stopped working =/ I want it again. I think my daily postcount here will drop like crazy if I can get my hands on that game again. *must have it*

Alsoooo...I used to have an MSX. My favourite games on there were Snake It, Magic Tree...Eggerland or something (???) and some more, but I forgot what they were called. A racing one, we just called it "Small car race" we had "Big car race too" but I didn't like that one.

Mario Kart was the craze for me and the neighbor's kid, Sam, for about 2 years. Whenever I could, I'd go play him.

I didn't win very much.

No matter what people say the old games will always be the best, good graphics don't make a game alone.

The NES was the shit. Too bad the NES is my sister's so it's at my house, not here in my dorm. I'm fine with my game cube and N64 though.

Star Fox on SNES = Visual Sex, it's not really 'retro', but it definitely deserves a mention.
