I used to be a huge Chicago Bulls fan. I saw the Bulls win their 71st game in their 72-10 1996 season. It was April 18th against the Detroit Pistons in chicago at the United Center. The Bulls won 110 - 79. I had 5th row seats. It was a memorable night seeing the best team in pro sports history.

Kobe Bryant may be a total cunt (though personally he's my favorite player in sports history for almost single-handedly destroying a potential Lakers dynasty :) ), but is there a more exciting single player in the game?

He's like watching that Looney Tunes episode where Bugs Bunny played every position on a baseball team at once.

I like it. Davis and Szcerbiak are basically a push (Sczerbiak's a tad better) so you aren't losing anything at all, AND you get rid of Blount who was an albatross the likes of which I've never seen before. Seriously, the guy was a fucking CORPSE and we still had him for 4 more years after this season.

I feel bad for McHale though, he's going to be fired for being stupid enough to take Blount's contract.

Bump, because even though basketball is the lamest of the four major sports, I still love it. (Football > Baseball > Hockey > Basketball)

The Pistons started out very well this year. They are falling apart now, but they won't be anymore, because former Michigan star Chris Webber is in town.

This pleases me so, because he's from Michigan and he's good.

Holy shit, I LOL'd at the "World's Strongest Man" stuff.

Have you ever considered why you think basketball is waaaay better than hockey, is because you are black? You're from New York, and the Rangers are my favorite Eastern Conference team.

Plus, if anyone should be making these lists, it should be someone from Detroit. We have one amazing football team (Wolverines), one amazing baseball team (Tigers), two amazing basketball teams (Spartans and Pistons), and one amazing (Wings) and two almost-amazing hockey teams (Wolverines and Spartans).

Detroit is a baseball town right now, Tigertown. They call Detroit Hockeytown. If someone says Detroit, someone says "Bas-ket-ball!" after it.

However, I think most cities are football towns. If the Lions made the playoffs, none the less go to/win the Super Bowl, everything in a 500-mile radius of Detroit would disappear into ash.

I'm sticking with: Football > Baseball > Hockey > Basketball > Poker > Chess > all else

Baseball isn't fun to play, isn't fun to watch, and is merely accepted as a sport because people like large social gatherings with cheap hot dogs, lame music, and mascot/sausage footraces.

You are just jealous because you didn't make the baseball team and Wisconsin doesn't have a pro baseball team, and if they did, they'd suck.

Unprecedented Court Ruling in Detroit, Michigan

Detroit, MI (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Detroit courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.

The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Detroit Lions, whom the boy and the court firmly believe are not capable of beating anyone.

I hate the Spurs. I hate the Spurs. I hate the Spurs. I hate the Spurs. I hate the Spurs. Seriously, I picked a bad year to finally get into the NBA. I started watching a lot of b-ball early in the playoffs and all of the teams I liked ended up losing to the teams I hated. At least I finally have teams that I root for though, and it's all unbiased, based not on geography (fuck Charlotte) but on which teams have combinations of players that I like and are fun to watch. For me, those teams are the Suns and the Jazz. Better luck next year. And don't fucking trade Amare.

This needs to be bumped up due to the new current NBA season. I guess this thread doesn't get too much action due to all the racist anti-black sports fans on this message board (aka arakor).

The Clippers, without their best player Elton Brand, are an amazing 4-0. I expected them to get like 20 wins on the entire year, but their new offense with the god of basketball Chris Kaman leading the way, is fast paced and potent. They just beat the 3-0 Pacers tonight on the road. I'm excited.

Nineteen Seventy Nine

You'll see me posting here a ton. And arakor might actually start to like this thread with the Big Three in Boston now.

So yeah, the Pistons are already guaranteed a top three seed in the Eastern Conference.

Now it's just a matter if we can actually win the NBA Title or not.

Other than Darko over Carmelo, the Pistons are a brilliant franchise. Letting Ben Wallace go was such a great move. Watching Chris Kaman dominate him showed me how much he has regressed, and the Pistons let him go at the right time.

You have to wonder what would have happened in '04 if we DID pick Carmelo or D-Wade over Darko. Would we still win a championship? We'll never know.

And actually, it was more so Ben Wallace than us. He went to Chitown for the money, which is why we hate him here now. Either way, it was great move, especially that our young players have a great chance to step up now that we didn't resign C-Webb either.

You know, I can't believe how many freaking rivalries these Pistons have been considered to be a part of the past 5 years.

Around 2004, our biggest competition was the Nets most of the time, and we even took a series to game seven. I considered them the Pistons rivals at the time.

The Pacers were always division rivals, and were really considered rivals once the fight broke out.

Last season, when the Bulls and Pistons played eachother, ESPN kept advertising it as a "rivalry renewed". What a bunch of crap now.

And now, this Celtics thing is looking incredibly awesome. I hope this lasts a long time.
