And no, I don't care if this thread has been done before. In fact, I'm fucking counting on it, since posts like that are probably going to make up the majority of responses. I just want to have a conversation about other music.

So I like Ben Folds/Ben Folds Five, Wilco, Bloodhound Gang, Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise, Clash, Green Day, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, AFI, Sum 41, Johnny Cash, Eels, Linkin Park, Seether, Evanescence, Billy Bragg, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, The Waybacks, John McCutcheon, Joseph Arthur, Wierd Al, Anthrax, Exodus, Black Sabbath, The Eagles, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Opeth, Iced Earth, Graveworm, Blink 182, Townes Van Zandt, Gorillaz, Atmosphere, Lil Jon, Sage Francis, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Eyedea & Abilities, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Dead Kennedys, Elliot Smith, Mr. T Experience.

You?

Linkin Park
I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter.

So Nazi 1, how do you feel about the newest Green Day album? I mean that on several levels, all of which you can figure out.

Nazi 2, I'm fully aware that Linkin Park are sellouts with emo-ass lyrics, and that their fanatics are annoying (OH so annoying). I'm just not pretentious enough to act like music has to be more than decent hooks and melodies.

Add another one to the list, I forgot Matchbox Twenty. Can't deny it. I just really like Matchbox Twenty. And Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. Can't believe I forgot 'em.

Okay, listen droogie-whatever. You seem like being able to form an intelligent, somewhat logical sentence in the English language so let me educate you on a few matters.

1) Hey, it's a message board with several forums. Only one or two of them are devoted to Offspring discussions. The rest are more or less off topic. One of these off topic forums is, surprise surprise, "Other Bands". This basically reads: "Bands other than the Offspring". If you have something to say about music that has absolutely no relation to the Offspring, you post what you have to say in "Other Bands". If it's a band you play in yourself, or if you want to discuss playing music, your post would be on-topic in "Your Band".

It's really that simple.

2) Sin Studly is a racist. No, it's not cool. Most of us agree on that. A lot of us joke a lot about Jews because we have a twisted sense of humor. But that's beside the point.

You can't change people, especially people who have clearly thought about their opinions and have explanations for why they believe in what they do. These justifications may be dumb, they may be false but if no one's going to change their ideas just because someone on an internet message board argues against them.

I disagree with Sin Studly's views probably more than anyone, but I still put up with him because he's generally pretty cool. He likes to stir up shit because a lot of people just can't ignore his national socialism and just accept that it's not any of their business and he's not firing black people or shooting Jews in the head.

Oh, and my favourite bands include AFI, Descendents, Buddy Holly, Kent, now Patrol, Elbow, Damien Rice, The Cure, The Clash, The Smiths, Blur & Jimmy Eat World.

I agree with Sanni that this topic is in the wrong forum. but at the same time, you can chat about music & shit & this IS General Chat. it's just that there is a specific forum for this particular subject.

favorite bands/artists (as far as I have those, because I'm all about experimenting);
*Racoon.
*K's Choice.
*Bjork.
*Alanis Morissette.
*Fiona Apple.
*Nikka Costa.
*Dream Theater.
*Radiohead.
*No Doubt.
*the Prodigy.
*DJ Roog.

a lot of names you know, some you probably don't know. *shrugs* it's what I have the most of, be it cd's, or music files. but there's a LOT of fantastic stuff in my music collection that people (mostly from the bbs) recommended, that I didn't mention.

Yeah. Like, to me it seems clear that "What are you listening to" is in this forum and not in other bands. Also stuff like "I heard the theme song to Macgyver yesterday. God it kicks ass!" could fit in here and not in Other Bands, no doubt.

But I'm feeling anal today anyway so I could ramble about this and come off really nit-picky so I'll say no more.

Minus the Bear... didn't Josh once recommend me them? I dunno, but I've got some good songs of them in my playlist. also of Blind Melon. sKratch? your job? & Cake can be awesome. I once devoted an entire topic to Short Skirt, Long Jacket on the red & white board. *luves*

exactly. plus, after a while, having heard a lot of her.. I kind of discovered it's not really full of creativity either. though some lyrics are definitely pretty creative. I don't know if it's the lack of energy, or the lack of something else. just something seems to be missing. it's an unfair comparison, but at some point (2 years ago) I really digged the hell out of Jamie Cullum. he seems to be somewhat in the same genre, but he's so energetic. he's taken it way too far, though. he's just pleasing the crowd now, making a show. in both cases something seems to lack. x-factor, anyone?

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I'll make it simple. NiN's version sucked, Johnny's version was awesome. Even Trent Reznor preffered Johnny's version. And the video was probably the most enjoyable music video I've ever seen. I didn't mean to imply earlier in this thread that I didn't like Johnny's version of Hurt, only that I am tired of people claiming to like his music but have only heard that. I wanted to make sure you weren't one of those. But, seeing as you don't like that, what are a few of your favourite songs of his?

I am very much looking forward to it. I can't say I'm exactly a fan of Joaquin, but he does have an intensity and can sometimes capture the essence of a character very well, so I have high hopes. And it sounds like he's got the voice perfected, which is incredibly important. He even looks enough like the young Johnny to pull it off. So now it's just down to whether the writing is good enough. It's the only movie I've been looking forward to for a tragically long time now.
