actually either one..

Okay don't recommend bands such as bad religion cause chances are I know them... tell me some names of bands that are less famous, but keep in mind they should be good..
I really don't care what type of music it is... unless its really heavy metal... which I don't mind, just not in the mood for..
so yeah recommend some bands please, im gonna go for a nap and come back and see if anyone wrote anything, and if you do then Ill download most or all the bands that were mentioned...

- anything trippy is good
- anything that has a melody is good
- anything chilled out is good

please say a sentense or two about the band you're recomending...

blerh imma go

Relient K. They're an awesome Christian punk band. and whats cool is all their songs arent about God. they mix it up. they sound kind of like blink-182.

She clearly said she wanted songs, not bands in general.

Some good stuff that you should check out:

Tibby Dunbar by The Dubliners. They are the most famous Irish folk music band, and it's such a fantastic song. (My favorite love song actually.)

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues featuring Kersty MacColl, this was a duet. The song is a love song, starts out with the guy opening his heart and promising everything. Later the lady gets fed up with the empty promises and they get into a fight. Typical Irish to me.

Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, he was a country singer in America (but not your typical one) this is definitely his most famous.

Au Bel de la Chance by Edith Piaf. A french singer. She was born on a street in France. Raised in a whorehouse. Sang in some cafés. Became quite famous, helped the French Resistance in WW2 and later died in the 60's. Good stuff, nice old french lounge music.

To Forgive by the Smashing Pumpkins, love the band myself. Absolutely my favorite band.

El Sol by Zwan, when the Smashing Pumpkins broke up, the Drummer Jimmy Chamberlain and the singer Billy Corgan formed a new band. They were quite good for their short-lived career.

Silverflame by Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, a Danish band, by far their best song. They are only famous in Denmark and Japan.

Land Ho! by the Doors. Great older rock band, heavily jazz influenced. Good good stuff. Strangely enough, the lead singer of this band also died in France in the '60's.

Dancing with Myself by Billy Idol, just a classic. One of the posterboys of 'punk'. Far better than most punks in my opinion, but really more dance-80's oriented type stuff.

Was gonna recommend some Bad Religion but you probably have already heard of them.

I don't know what you already know & have heard, so I'll just recommend anything I find real yay to listen at.

Bjork - Army of Me
Bjork - Crying
Bjork - Human Behaviour

Fiona Apple - Fast as You can (Fiona is a bit jazzy, combined with pop & some other genres)
Fiona Apple - Paper Bag

Nikka Costa - Everybody Got Their Something
Nikka Costa - Like a Feather

Luscious Jackson - with my Naked Eyes/Naked Eye

Chicks on Speed - Euro Trash Girl
Chicks on Speed - Fashion Rules
Chicks on Speed - Wordy Rapping Hood

Racoon - Feel like Flying (Dutch pop-rock band. they're happy & hyper)

as for something totally different:
Buena Vista Social Club - Chan Chan (Cuban, but I guess you guessed that)

Dream Theatre - the Dance of Eternity (interesting combination of music)

Sade - King of Sorrow (she's extremely relaxed)

Coldfinger - Cover Sleeve

the Streets - Fit, but You know It (I lurf their Brittish accent)

I also dig the Prodigy & Basement Jax, but I'm afraid I'd be the only one here...
so that'll be it for now.

I've come to the conclusion that everyone loves Pinback. They have a new album out now too, I just bought it the other day. It's purdy.

The Kinks. Almost all there songs are great, and they are quite thoughtful songs, the kinks were genious men to me. They might have become alot more famous if the beatles werent around the same time they were, they also got banned from america :)

Good Clean Fun

They're a hardcore band, but they're very different from the usual hardcore bands. Good Clean Fun is also known as the pedo-core band. Don't get that wrong, cause they don't make love to 5 year olds. Here are some songs:

I Can't Wait (http://home.tiscali.nl/zinloos/divers/bbs/good_clean_fun-i_cant_wait.mp3)
Draft Dodger Anthem (http://home.tiscali.nl/zinloos/divers/bbs/good_clean_fun-draft_dodger_anthem.mp3)

One band you must check out is an old Australian band from Sydney - very strange music, but awesome...theres no guitar, its all done on bass...which is probably why I love it so much.

Ha. That the best you could do? The REAL TripBoy would be advising me to light my hair on fire or something. No, wait - he'd tell me to put it in pigtails so he can grab on to them while he's pounding my ass from behind. That's more like it.

You're a pale imitation, & your schtick got old the same minute it began.

Howards Alias - W.O.R.L.D. (http://www.punkrocksounds.com/HOW1.mp3) - talented dark-tinged ska rock

Cursive rocks. They're more emo-core than anything. I love their riffs on Domestica. They sound very theatrical soundtrack-ish, like they're playing orchestral music on their guitars.

I only have "the ugly organ", they had it in the library, I searched for them after someone from another forum told me about them.

And damn DirtyMagical, you know rasputina! Now I haven't recommended you anything! Oh well

The Ugly Organ is a good album too, but of the two I have, I prefer Domestica. The Ugly Organ still has that theatrical vibe to it, but that's mostly because they actually have organs and violins and stuff on it. I think the guitar-work and songwriting on Domestica is better. Ugly Organ has some great songs but a lot of the times they're really straight forward and the only thing that keeps them sounding different is the added instruments.

check out The Lament of Pretty Baby, I Lost The Will to Fight, and A Game of Who Needs Who the Most (this goes for DirtyMagical too). Tim wasn't the best singer in the world at the time so there's bits where he sounds a little tone deaf.
