11-12-2005, 12:46 PM
Come on, peoples. I'm hungry. Make it vegetables, spices, with or without mayo. Caloric bombs or unhealthy for all I care. What kind do you eat or make? I need ideas.

11-12-2005, 12:47 PM
I put a pizza in the oven when I'am hongry.
(10-15 minutes)

11-12-2005, 12:49 PM
I'm not asking about pizza. I'm asking about salads.

11-12-2005, 12:52 PM
lettuce with chrimps and mayonaise.

11-12-2005, 12:52 PM
I love lettuce. Not a shrimps fan though. Any good spices?

11-12-2005, 12:54 PM
I would go for Salad Pizza. Seriously.

But salad...I usually make it with this premade stuff, so I don't know. Oh, and adding pine nuts (I hope you know what they are, my dictionary said that's what they are called in English) is great.

11-12-2005, 12:54 PM
(Thinking about the pizza :) )

11-12-2005, 12:54 PM
i knew a good one, somethig that was everything in 1, but i don't remember the name.

I'm hungry...

11-12-2005, 12:59 PM
I googled pine nuts, Tizzle. They good. Never thought of putting them into a salad! =)

Mmm, olives are good. And tuna in oil and mayo together make me sick for three days.

11-12-2005, 01:01 PM
hawai or prochutto ... hmmmmm ....

Something with a lot of cheese.

11-12-2005, 01:01 PM

They are SO good in a salad, well, with lettuce, I'm not sure if it's still good if you throw in other stuff. But with lettuce it's really nice.

11-12-2005, 01:03 PM
Tuna in oil is 10x better then the tuna that comes in the water. I don't even put the mayo on...just eat with the oil. I love that shit.

"Insalata Riso" is my favorite salad by far. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Tastey. I haven't seen it in Canada though...maybe I'm blind.

11-12-2005, 01:05 PM
i just have normal dinner salads with honey mustard dressing.

11-12-2005, 01:07 PM
try jalepenos on salads. mmmmmmm.

11-12-2005, 01:12 PM
I don't know jalepenos.

Tuna in oil is alright but with mayo it fucked up my stomach bad that I actually had to diet. And I hate diets.

11-12-2005, 01:17 PM
Lettuce, mushrooms, tomatoes, corn, and a bit of cold rice to go with it.

Whatever sort of dressing you want on top. Some people don't think that corn and mushrooms can fit together, so take one or the other out.

11-12-2005, 01:18 PM
Corn and mushrooms are fine. Well, unless the corn is too sweet. Rice is an interesting idea.

11-12-2005, 01:19 PM
I don't know jalepenos.
they are a type of chillies...they taste really nice in salads as long as you dont add too much...if you do it would overpower the other flavours...

and yea pine nuts are LOVELY in salads...just dry fry them a little first....it adds that extra 'oomph' lol

EDIT: i just found this website ...there is LOADS of salad recipes on it...:)

11-12-2005, 01:19 PM
Cold rice (the non-sticky kind) fits very well into a lot of salads. You need dressing of some sort to really get the most out of it, though.

Now I'm hungry for a salad.

11-12-2005, 01:29 PM
Insalata RISO...Rice SALAD....best salad ever...

Corn, Tuna, Mayo, "Hot DOGS" LOL mixed with rice...mMmMmmMmmMMMMmmM
Olives...oh geez...im makin it right now..thats it.

Has to be non oil tuna...

Pretty much toss what you want on it really...

Put olives in a little bowl full of extra virgin olive oil. Add some lemon juice and all types of spices (choose the ones you like). And then add small pieces of cheese and walnut. Serve it with toasted breads. This is not a salad in fact. It's just an important part of Mediterranean breakfast.
There's one more if you don't hate eggs. All you have to do is chop boiled potatos, boiled eggs and tomatos. Then pour olive oil and squeeze lemon. And salt of course.

11-12-2005, 01:35 PM
The olive oil and lemon stuff with cheese and lettuce and other vegetables is real good.

11-12-2005, 01:40 PM
You should always have a bottle of cold press extra-virgin olive oil with laurel leaves in stock. Its taste is more, what do you say, sharp? Severe? Pungent? Anyway, one of them.

I don't know
11-12-2005, 01:45 PM
mayonneise, cucumber,salt and boiled eggs

11-12-2005, 01:48 PM
I use olive oil to cook with pretty much anything.

You guys should make this...

Cut up:
Bocconcini, Cucumbers, Tomatos, Green Peppers, Onions

Olive Oil
Little Salt & Pepper

Then mix it up...and eat it with some bread. SO GOOD. If you want, dip the bread in it...holy crap is so good.

When it comes to just plain old lettuce salad, some of my favourite things in it at the moment are avocados and cashews. Creamy cucumber dressing on top is the best.

Some really good types of salads that I have had at restaurants and stuff are:

Greek: romaine lettuce, feta, tomatoes, black olives, maybe other stuff, with some sorta greek dressing...

Spinach: spinach, sliced hard-boiled eggs, mushrooms, bacon, cheddar cheese, onions, with warm "bacon" dressing (not sure how to make that).

I love chick pea salad but have never found a good way to make it.

11-12-2005, 02:23 PM
walnuts, honey, swiss cheese, all you need to know.

11-12-2005, 02:25 PM
Oooh, thanks Betty and Bella. This is only getting better.

11-12-2005, 02:33 PM
My faaavorite salad:

Mix of spinach and mesclun greens
Crumbled feta cheese
Mushrooms (I prefer them sautéed w/a little soy sauce, but you can do your own thing)
Grated carrots
(Maybe some artichoke hearts if you have 'em)
And as always...balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

sooo goooood.

11-12-2005, 04:21 PM
Oh man... Sarah, can you make me salad tonight?

Dude, blue cheese and walnuts have all the makings of a high-class salad.

Also some sort of dressing I won't be able to remember. Yeah...

If you want a sweet and sour salad, you should try the Pom Banana. It's not your everyday salad, yet It's still healthy and a bit junky, because the sauce has some sugar, but It's easy to make.

11-13-2005, 07:53 AM
Oooh, thanks Betty and Bella. This is only getting better.
you're welcome. =)

you should seriously try that some time. just letuce, swiss goatcheese (or you could use brie, or camembert, or whatever), honey & walnuts. you can throw in anything else you like; tomatoes, shortly grilled pinenuts (I LOVE pinenuts), cucumber, just anything. but of course you need balsamico vinaigrette, like 1565 said. yumyum. or there's some kind of oil & vinegar with pepers in them & they are completely awesome when combined.

Justin -"baby spinach" sounds absolutely adorable. but yeah, fucking delicious. raw spinach is a fantastic ingredient for salads anyway.

If you are hungry, why would you wait around for people to post suggestions on here?

Be inventive.
