Vinovica rules. And you probably won't know it unless you're related to me or my insane relatives who produce the creepiest illegal crystal clear spirits which usually stay in the family.

Omgwtf, blindedzorz.

Erm, anything ending in -ica here is fucking scary. And we do have a lot of words with that ending since people can burn alcohol from pretty much everything.

I think it's spiritus vini rectificatus which would pass as vinovica. Slivovica kinda thing, not burnt from plum, burnt from wine.

Sin Studly

Well... isn't all brandy burnt from wine?

whoo for la alcohola. wednesday I had a bad ankle-pain, but I solved it with a bottle of vodka & some fantastic whiskey. but I hate whiskey normally. :/ my ankle still hates me for drinking that night.

I never get that alcohol solving pain, it never works for my injuries and it only slows the healing process :-/

JoY
11-17-2005, 02:52 AM
of course it slows down the healing process. the bloodcirculation in my ankle is a complete mess from the operation & alcohol doesn't exactly help. & it doesn't exactly help that I feel less pain with some alcohol & cross my limits with it every time, either.

but when I remember how painlessly I broke my leg two years ago, I can only be thankful for the existence of alcohol. except that it was kind of the reason I broke my leg in the first place.

When my granddad broke a leg he never went to see a doctor. Just drank the pain away with slivovica and the like. He hated doctors.

I respect your grandfather for that.

Wait.. slivovica is burnt from plum wine, right?

the_GoDdEsS
11-17-2005, 03:13 AM
Distilled fermented plum juice. 40-70% for slivovica. Or stronger, it varies.

Sin Studly
11-17-2005, 03:14 AM
Yeah, but isn't fermented juice basically wine?

did anyone later diagnose him with a broken leg? that must've been quite the shock. did it heal nicely? he must've been in quite some pain, but then again, you just are with a broken leg. cast doesn't change much about that. it just helps you keep it still. *shrugs* diclofenac & alcohol are the best options, though not combined.

I remember how I refused to look at my leg till 16 hours after breaking it. the diagnosis was quite simple, even for me. bwah. & even then I didn't want to know anything about it. when my ex-housemate (she's a doc now) told me it was definitely broken, it kind of hit me that it might be better to go to a doctor.

one time I heard about this lady, who had a tumor. she'd noticed a lump in her belly, but "it didn't bother her much", so she just left it there to grow & grow & grow. by the time she went to a doctor the tumor weighed 70 kg (omgz!!) & her entire back was crooked (is that the right word?). when they removed the massive tumor with the size of a grown human being, she couldn't stand up anymore, because she'd lost her balance completely. she'd just adjusted to walking around with a 70 kg tumor, slowly, over time.

I don't know about people who don't go to doctors. my dad never went to a dentist, just because he always thinks he can handle anything, until the dentist had to remove a couple of his teeth & do three root-procedures. he's also broken a couple of his fingers without getting any treatment. now he has two fingers that can barely function/move.

people consider it "tough" when someone refuses to see a doctor & they told me it was oh so "tough" I waited so long with going to the hospital, but in reality.. I was just scared they'd confirm my thoughts. & from my own experiences & experiences I've read/heard about, I now just think it's rather stubborn & sometimes even dumb, because it can have massive consequences.
