I didn't want to screw up the other guy's thread, so I'm just going to put the songs I uploaded here. To give this thread a point, talk about how much Steve Vai pwns noobs.

Thank you! I have downloaded it all, and I will listen to it tomorrow. I need to sleep, though, for I am about to die. Later.

These songs are actually sleepable to songs if you're desperate enough.

I went through all the threads I made and I'm surprised I haven't made a steve vai thread yet. Honestly, I'm not that big of a fan of this album but it has its moments. My favorite has to be Fire Garden Suite...or maybe Hand on Heart. HOH's intro just makes me me feel like crying for some reason.

For the Love of God is... godly (no pun intended). I think I'm getting the Anthology today just because it has that song on it, not to mention a few I haven't heard.

I like both Satriani and Vai, "The Audience is Listening" is awesome, however I prefer Satriani. I won't try to explain why, because it will turn into a typical band vs band thread, eg FuCk U FaGz VaI PwNz AlL CunTz!!!!1111, however I will say I find Satrianis Hendrix inspired improvs very cool. Mixing those bluesy sounds with whammy sqeals and all of Satchs other signature techniques and having it not sound shite is a rather impressive feat.

I liked the Fire Garden Suite the most out of those. All About Eve should be on the radio and I was more interested in the rhythm part of the Crying Machine than I was the guitar. Not bad though. I'll upload a couple Buckethead songs sometime later, I think you'll like him.

Steve Vai live is not a show you'd want to miss. That guitaring is pure genius.

Great musician, though his music isn't my cup of tea.

Actually, i admit, SOME of his songs are seemingly never-ending and it does wind me up a little, but hey, the majority is awesome and they rarely disappoint.

Has anyone here listened to any of Joe Satriani's stuff? He's abso-fuckin-lutely amazing

He's in G3 with Steve Vai and John Petriucci, I so have to go to one of those

Lately I've been hating a bunch of Vai songs that I used to adore. One example would be The Crying Machine. It sounds nice and all but it's so "obvious sounding" it's corny. I'm not sure how else to explain it. I'm also starting love some Vai songs I used to find boring. I used hate the new vai album but I've just realized how much it kicks ass.

My favorite songs at the moment:
Incantation (I can't get enough of the intro. It could really get you into a trance if you listen closely enough)
http://s9.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3VZZYX7SEU8GZ1K0879FY07X1Q
Building the Chuch (yeah...explaining instrumental music is hard)
http://s7.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=26VQBV4DT1MXY3AW023BNGF8ZN
Lotus Feet (played with a backing orchestra...very beautifull)
http://s5.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0SFDKX20TMXB518VHKKCXDEMYY
Firewall (very fun song with vocals)
http://s12.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0J64CJDS5EO8Z2FQIQHSMLNFFQ
Freak Show Excess (inspired by bulgarian wedding music. It's a weird trip)
http://s33.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=27T9359SM32TD3T2LCKZK04ZFL
Fever Dream (insturmental but the title discribes it pretty well)

Vai songs where eletric guitar doesn't take over the whole song always seem to pwn the most. The songs that I uploaded aren't all like that but I just felt like mentioning it.

Yeah, you woud. I now hate you for not replying to my Stuart Hamm thread. There were some bass lines im those mp3s I know you would have loved.

I got Satriani's Anthology yesterday. Contrary to the beliefs of many, they're actually quite different. The best way to explain it is Satriani plays to fit the flow of the music, while the music flows more to fit Vai's playing.

I think it's also where Satriani's influence is most noticeable.

For some reason the YSI never came up for Lotus Feet, but I liked the rest.
