How did you choose your offspring forums name?
The way I came up woth mine was just adding 'da' and 'sta' to my name (my name is lake), so when you add it all up its 'Da' lake 'sta' except its without the e in lake because I wasn't typing well when I made my account.

got mine starting from the following facts :

Dexter is Latin for "right"
Sinister is Latin for "left"
I'm a lefty.

And the word itself is just damn cool.

JohnnyNemesis
11-28-2005, 05:12 PM
I made the name JohnnyNemesis when I was a huge wrestling geek. He was a fictional character created for a video game, and the name is supposed to be a reference to the extremely corny kind of name that was used for villains in pro-wrestling and in low budget films. It was the perfect blend of corny and kind of cool, and I loved the corniness so much that I adopted it for myself.

lolz, you misspelled your own name when making your account. Although I have to admit that Lake is a pretty cool name.

The line "xylophone trees" is from the Blood Brothers song "Ambulance vs. Ambulance," only I thought it would be the coolest thing ever if I capitalized the X, Y, and nonexistent Z.

endymion: john keats? i've heard of him but i don't know who he is.

he was a romanticism era poet. one of the few epic poems he wrote is Endymion, a retelling of the myth of endymion from greek mythology.

from wikipedia:
"In Greek mythology, Endymion was a handsome shepherd (or, more rarely, a king or a hunter) from Asia Minor. He was so beautiful that Selene, the moon goddess, asked Zeus (or Hypnos) to grant him eternal life so he would never leave her. Alternatively, Selene trusted and loved Endymion so much he made the decision to live forever in sleep. Either way, Zeus blessed him by putting him into an eternal sleep. Every night, Selene visited him where he was buried on Mt. Latmus near Milete, in Asia Minor. Selene and Endymion had fifty daughters including Naxos."

Thibault, cool, learned a new name.

TTIG I still can't remember his real name, and I don't like using screen names that don't at least sound like an actual nickname.

Betty is just my general screen name that I use for everything. In highschool I had another friend named Michelle and one day my friend said: "Having two Michelle's is too confusing, you can be Betty". And then that was sorta an on-and-off nickname for a little while but that's also the same point in time where I got connected to the Internet and had to start choosing screen names.

I prefer Michelle though. I don't really realize it, but Betty must sound like an incredibly ditzy/girly name and that is so far from the truth. Meh.

XYlophonetreeZ

I've dropped it only once or twice on here, and they'd probably be pretty hard to find. Me llamo Jonathan. Jon is fine too, as long as you don't spell it with an h (which WAY too many people do).

Betty
11-28-2005, 09:21 PM

An h isn't too bad.

For me it is. About half of the people I meet don't understand that John and Jonathan are two totally separate names. I don't even care if people call me Jonny or Jono or any of the many nicknames I've had over the years, but John just annoys the hell out of me because it's... it's just... not my name.

I find the contemporary version of "John" now originates from the name "Jonathan", therefore causing the people with the name Jonathan to spell the name they usually go by as "Jon." "John" is old-school.

bd007h

I find the contemporary version of "John" now originates from the name "Jonathan", therefore causing the people with the name Jonathan to spell the name they usually go by as "Jon." "John" is old-school.

Well they've always been separate names, and John is a little less common now, yes. But sometimes people find this simple concept so confusing that they'll even spell Jonathan "Johnathan," which in most cases is just totally wrong. Although I know of at least two people actually named that, because their parents apparently were some of those confused people.

TTIG, or Lazar, I guess (I'll try and get used to it), I found this old overlooked gem of yours and decided to immortalize it in my sig.

11-28-2005, 09:51 PM
On the topic of name spelling... I think it's kinda funny when people choose a normal name for their kid and try and spell it in the most ridiculous way possibly to be unique.

I guess Tiphani could sorta be an example of that (no offense!) but I think there are a lot of ways to spell the name and not necessarily an entirely common way, so it's not really going too overboard.

11-29-2005, 12:23 AM
I'm a hug Charmed fan and I always thought that telekinesis would be a really cool power to have, I'd love to do what Carrie did to the people at her school, make those bitches pay, muhahahaha, well yes anyway I've always wanted to be able to move things with my mind ever since I started watching Charmed, it would be so awesome. Well I decided to see what the wikipedia had to say about telekinesis and well I got redirected from psychokinesis but it's kinda the same thing in a way.

Psychokinesis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
(Redirected from Telekinesis)

Psychokinesis (literally "mind-movement") or PK is the more commonly used term today for what in the past was known as telekinesis (literally "distant-movement"). It refers to the psi ability to influence the behavior of matter by mental intention (or possibly some other aspect of mental activity) alone. As of 2004 the term remote influencing is becoming widely used for certain kinds of psychokinesis

I also found another wikipedia article this time it's actually on telekinesis

Telekinesis can be confused with Psychokinesis, but do not be fooled for telekinesis does have its limitations. Telekinesis is also known as levitation and works in majority with the two major forces: gravity and electromagnetism/electrostatic. Electromagnetism is composed of both electrical fields and magnetic fields. Magnetic fields are closely intertwined with electrical fields and under many circumstances it is impossible to consider the two separately. Telekinetic repulsion of gravitons is due to the pitch of a vibrational sequence (frequency) as frequency does emit a pitch. The electromagnetic propulsion is also due to a frequency (pitch) caused by the magnetic force between the objects. To move other objects such as paper that is electrostatic. To move a pencil you are moving it via electromagnetism via the aluminum partisan not the wood or the lead.

I've considered making a new account and calling it Pyrokinesis coz that kinda relates to The Offspring, with Burn It Up but meh

I took this nick because I'm proud of listening to rock, but often when I said that I like rock people look at me with mad eyes. How you can do it? Girl? It's awful! I didn't listen to them. Now I like rock more than in that times, but I start to understand that sometimes people just hear the word ROCK go away from you. They don't want to understand that you are interesting person. They only go away. That's why I add word girl to rock. And a second reason why I wrote Rock is that in my native language it means fate.

If the person that made the comment was a more "popular" user, instead of wishomie, people would be licking his/her ass, as it's usual on this boards. It was actually a rather hilarious comment.

Lodat will tell you how I got my name.

Well, it isn't funny, but i'll say it anyway.

Barangatang is about a black hooker who came home after fucking to her drunked black husband who beats her, and he, well, beats her and threw her to the street with the dog, while her kids were watching, and got raped by the dog. Nothing special. And now you/he rapes monkeys. Ask TOM.

Warning and Nimrod are awesome Green Day Cds.

Dexter is Latin for "right"
Sinister is Latin for "left"
I'm a lefty.

And the word itself is just damn cool.
Cool, I like that word too.

Mentally_Challenged
11-29-2005, 03:06 PM
My friend told me I was "working the mentally challenged look" when they pulled the hood up on my jumper, tied it incredibly tight, put me on a log flume and laughed at the picture.

And so, I registered to the Offspring BBS a few days later, with 'Mentally_Challenged' as my user name.

And now, I kinda wish I hadn't.

Um, people said it was funny the same way they would have said it was funny if someone else said it, so what the fuck is your point?

My friend used to always make fun of me when I wore my hood in the winter and bundled up really tightly, saying that I looked like I belonged on the special bus.

I wanted to call myself "pretty guy (for a white fly)." I thought that might be a funny user name. But it was too long, so I just made my user name out of my favorite Offspring song (pretty fly) and the year I was born ('88).

The eccentric cat
11-29-2005, 06:16 PM
I'm eccentric and i'm a Cat person..... Well actually, its based on a character I made up and draw comics featuring him (just like [Warning], I draw, but I don't have a scanner). He's basically eccentric; smart but crazy :D . (So.... am I original?)
