This is a good point, because it's so true. And it's not just on MySpace, actually, a lot of "profile" websites have this pose in abundance. So, why? Why no variation?

Some theories:

a) "My Mom thinks my hair looks stupid so she won't take it for me."

b) "I have no friends to do it for me."

I shall add more as the discussion progresses.

I think the most obvious answer is laziness. Doing it yourself is just easier, lacks the need to explain.

Did they ditch the two old protagonists of nothing nice to say?

I haven't read it in ages, but I don't think so. Rick'll know.

What about:

- I like taking pictures
- Pictures you take of yourself usually look better than when other people take them
- You can take loads of them and no one will complain, so you have a better chance of getting a good one

It's not taking a picture themselves that I'm talking about. I'm talking about in a mirror, always with the same expression.

You're so right :(

But yes, sex.

And Dave, a lot of people don't have a selftimer, or don't know how it works, so that explains the mirror.

It's a lot easier to get your face/hair and your boobs in a picture if it's taken in the mirror than if you're taking it by just stretching your arms out.

God, you guys are so na´ve. Just look at the similar poses. And the way they all type in the same ridiculous bastardisation of English. They're clearly all troll accounts set up by the same twelve year-old girl.

-Tut- so it all comes down to cleavage.

Of course it does. Aren't the tits all that matters?

"Woman's got a point, Dave."

"That she does, Lee. That she does."

The pose bothers me too. I really hate mirror pictures unless people actually know what they're doing (and clearly, the majority of myspace-users have NO IDEA).
Why doesnt anybody understand that you can use your mirror to see the display of the camera in the mirrow?! Why does there need to be an ugly flash on the pic because of mirror shots? Wow, idiotic. It's actually so easy.

LOLZ that's so Mota Boy's picture.

Anyway. I can't do that seeing as how my flash is so annoying. What I'd recommend is checking out how the picture will turn out by standing in front of the mirror, then looking at the back of the digital camera through the mirror to see how it looks, and then taking a picture.

oh noez, i'm such a typical myspace picture taker (sortof) *frown*

but yeah, it's more than a bit annoying when every single picture looks totally the same.

1. I didn't say there was anything wrong with 'em
2. My camera's got no timer
3. Why do so many people have my pictures on photobucket?

Nah, they haven't ditched Blake and Fletcher at all. Mitch just does his thing every now and then.

On a side note, my Nothing Nice To Say t-shirt arrived in the mail last week and it looks absolutely fabulous.

For purposes of this discussion, I believe this strip is even better:

same, but mirror pictures annoy me. i either take a close-up, or opt for self-timer.

It is indeed all about the cleavage.
