awww. that ruins the whole idea! (the way to do it, is to open the bottom and take the tray out, otherwise everyone sees the open windows! :p )

I don't know what it is! (It's probably because I've never heard that in English...so it's not because I've never seen that kind of calendar or whatever is is).

erm, it's a kind of count-down calendar to christmas, you open one window each day, and there's a chocolate/sweet inside (unless you get the boring ones with just pictures in. had one of them the year before last, absolute shit :( )

I wanted one so bad this year, but my mother forgot to buy one. I feel as if I'm a 5 year old kid. Good souvenirs. :)

I've never seen one of those calendars with pictures instead of chocolate, though.

i like the advent calendars. they make me feel young too. wanting to eat the whole lot in one go, but knowing there won't be one for tomorrow if i do.

Yeah, I have one every year but I tend to forget to take the chocolates on the right day. Which isn't so bad, giving that in one day I get three. I don't think I will do it when I live on my own though - I only have them because my parents buy one for me each year anyway.

My mother was leaving and I ran outside (it's coooold and it's snowing) without shoes or boots to tell her to buy one of those calendars. I'm sure it's impossible to find them now, though. It's already December 9th...

Best thread ever!

When I was little our grandma used to buy us one and we had to take turns having a chocolate every 4 days, since I have three other siblings. Oh, the anticipation for the sweet morcel of waxy chocolate.

But this year, my housemate bought us three 97 cent advent calendars, and every day we have a little opening ceremony between the three of us. The pictures don't even match up with the chocolates. It's absolutely ridiculous. But another fantastically fun thing to help get me through the day.

haha now that would rock

the total amount of chocolate in an advent calendar is teeny...you'd be better off buying a big bar of chocolate *waters at the mouth* lol

haha true. but still. it makes me feel like a kid again, having a calendar with chocolate in just to count down the days until christmas

Killer Queen: It's a box with a tray full of choclate inside of it. The box has a Christmas related picture on the cover of it with little windows that represent each day during advent (the season before christmas). You open a window every day during advent and get a candy as you countdown to the holiday.

Here's a picture:
