View Full Version : I Can't Sleep Normally!

For most of the year, I just haven't been able to develop a normal sleeping pattern.

During the school week I am just tired. Then when Friday night hits, I go to sleep at around 10, and can often sleep until 4 in the afternoon. Then my sleeping schedule is just fucked to a point where on Sunday night, I can't sleep. Which means Monday I'm pretty fucked up, and on a sleep deficit for the rest of the week. Which means constant napping.

Constant napping and tiredness, I'm such a mess. Luckily it's a week and a half until vacation. But first, midterms.

haha, I definitely know what you're feeling. It's so bad these days, I don't even bother bringing my textbooks or note paper anymore. Too lazy to pack my bag properly.

My life

Yup, I hear you there. Although when I don't sleep Sunday cause of sleeping retarded amounts on the weekend, I'm usually pretty set for Monday since I've accumulated enough sleep time already.

But really, you can never totally judge those things. Sometimes you're exhausted, and sometimes you're just so energized you just don't know what to do with yourself.

I fall asleep any time between 5 and 10 (ante meridiem) and wake up between 12:30 and 3:00 post meridiem.
Fuck yo' sleeping habits.

Yeah, I totally have like 15 pages of stuff to write for Thursday. Because I need to give a 10 minute presentation on my own research. And receive a critique. And a grade. Have I started? I wrote my introduction and wrote out my theory. Only 14 more pages to go. And only 3 more cases to find. And only 8 more variables to define. And a few more authors to argue against. And some slides to make. And I have other work plus 30 hours at my job between right now (1:11am) and 11:00am Thursday morning. Am I starting now? No. I'll just stay up a few more hours because I'm too tired to really do anything, but too awake to sleep. And I need to be up by like...7am. blah. Rambling, sorry.

oh, and with bringing things to class....i bring 3 pieces of paper and a pen to every class (besides my purse). And that's it.

Lately I've been skipping class just to makeup what I've already missed, putting me just as far behind. And to miss tests. I'm truly fucked from here till Thursday, when I have exams and makeup all rolled into four days. And work. So I'll be sleeping very, very little. Probably coming home and taking naps, then waking up at midnight and getting started on work.Ah indeed, another symptom of the overworked. Skipping classes to catch up on work missed in other classes.

Usually I go to the computer room, and goof off the entire time.

Whenever I skip a class to try and catch up on other work, I end up sleeping during the time period of the class I missed. I accomplish nothing. Yet, I continue to do this.

Because people like you and I, have very little self-control, and love self-gratification. We are awesome.

We are awesome, Per.

Hopefully, my professor agrees that I am, in fact, awesome, and gives me an equally awesome grade on all the stuff that I don't deem important enough to do yet.

Uuuurgh. Sleeping. I have problems too. I'm always tired, and never fall asleep and night. And then when I do I wake up about 5 times, and way too early in the morning. If one of those waking up times happens after 6.00 am I can't sleep anymore. And I NEED sleep dammit.

Per, I think you just need to not sleep that long on friday & saturday, starting that will be fucked up, but I think that'll help.

I officially went to bed at 6am but took a nap before that. Just woke up a while ago. And it's Monday but fortunately I don't have to work until about 4pm. My patterns are currently less messed than they used to be (being online at night or going out a few years back). But I still get too little sleep when I go to bed at midnight or 1am and have to be up at 5am for work on most weekdays. So I'm constantly tired, I constantly almost fall asleep on the bus, I have strong urges to drink coffee.

I'm uncool and I *almost* sleep properly.

Although whenever I can, I sleep in as long as I can. My sleeping patterns were fucked this summer, but that doesn't count :(

Update:

I've had 0,4L of coffee. I feel...actually I feel high. I could hear my heartbeat for a while, wtf?

That heartbeat shit is scary indeed.

I'm having coffee too. To wake up//kill migraine. Neither of it is working.

Izie

I'll have one of those kinds of awake please.

Also, I should have coffee. Hmmmmmmm

I found out coffee is super good to give me a lot of energy for teaching. Omg, gets me hyper. Not happy, just more alive and active.

I totally recognise the feeling. especially now my boyfriend has a cold & keep having these mad coughing fits at night. *sigh* if only my bed was made & my room wasn't such a mess, I'd sleep alone & over one hour per night.

Izie

I got coffee. Alkie coffee even.

JoY

your problem is easy to solve, wheelchy. it's been scientifically proved that after 7pm, the computer lights keep your brain active so you'll find it more & more & more difficult to go to sleep. basically you stay awake longer hours.

solution? no more offspring bbs + msn+ chess games after 7 pm. you'll sleep like a baby afterwards.
that'd explain things. but.. nah. Monopo1337 is meant to be played late at night.

Tizzalicious
12-12-2005, 05:31 AM

But that means he'll blame me :(

you're the only reason he stays awake, tizz. can't sleep for thinking of you!

& bella, can I join in the monopo1337? if it's so great as you make it out to be!

As it should be!

And you should play monopo1337, it's fun!

JoY

Oh, that's my boozy bella!

(on a sidenote, that ankle-accident really sucks... I just perused your posts, looks like you got JINXED, by jove. with luck you won't be lame for life. & I feel your pain, walking without heels i've only heels myself :p bah you'll recover *pats shoulder* matter of time!)
thank you so much for the kind words. =)

I'm 9 days towards a vacation. I can make this last stretch on any sleeping pattern!

Although I'm so tempted to go and lie down for a while.

And I'm glad we've come to a definite conclusion on my late-night thinking pattern...

Tizzalicious
12-12-2005, 07:04 AM
Pfff. I'll keep you up during your vacation too.

Edit: I just realised that can be taken a complete different way...

I've always had sleeping problems. I find that my body doesn't naturally like to operate on a 24 hour system. If I can stay up for around 20 hours then sleep for 8-12 I do ok. Unfortunately the world isn't very accomadating to my preferences. I sympathize.
