What are your favorite ways to count in a song?

The Ramones' "ONE TWO THREE FOUR!" is classic.

I think my personal favorite is Tenacious D's "One two three four five SIX SIX SIX," though.

Cowbell works, too.

I think my friend has the best way to count in a song: "We're on record, guys!"

but usually we go for the 1,2,3,4.

Dr John: "put me on tape; cut me while i'm hot"

and one of my bands live songs has a 16 count at the start. no reason, we just thought it was funny.

oh, and speaking of the Ramones "ONETWOTHREEFOUR" count, the count done at the start of Metallica's cover of 53rd & 3rd is pretty awesome

U2's "uno, dos, tres... catorze!" in the beginning of Vertigo sounds great. It means "one, two, three... fourteen" by the way.

^Uno, dos, tres, catorce! Ahh....fun times. Senora Stahle actually brought in the CD so we could listen to that and make fun of how wrong it was.

I prefer the "one e and a two e and a three e and a four e and a" method.

Other than that, I like the counting off in "Schifty Five".

I like playing a small riff and just screaming "LET'S GO!" really loud as my brother comes in on the drums. We have a pretty good idea of what the other person's going to do next. Sibling bonds are excellent.

In the band I played in, it usually went along the lines of "Chris put the joint down."

This band Storytime from Syracuse opened for an improv/sketch comedy group I'm in. They have a song called Countdown where they count down from 40 and then the song ends. It's brilliant.

In my old band, we always had intros based around one instrument, so it was easy. They'd just start playing.
