I need a cause and effect topic that will take up 5-10 pages worth of discussion for Monday. Does anybody have any ideas?

Slaverly is the easiest the thing you could talk about. If you're good at bullshitting, then it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Yeah, but like, 5-10 pages of bullshitting. I think Ms.Baker would start to get suspicious that I had absolutely no clue on the topic. Kind of like this summer.

Hahaha. What if I did a topic about the effect of Emo kids and music on our generation!

Sonia, put that idea back, it was good.

Bullshitting isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's possible to write extremely good papers through the means of bullshitting. I know I've done it hundreds of times.

plus still...there's a bunch of stuff you could write about concerning slavery...achievement gap, poverty, music, white privilege, civil rights, multiculturalism , gangs, etc.. Unless you're one of those people who are afraid of saying African American in front of black people or itís more of a pop culture type of topic, then I don't see why not.

Is this for an English or History class?

HONORS English, which is why I can't bullshit it. She'll say I'm capable of doing better work, and make me redo it for a lower grade or just give me a zero. I'm not good at history, so slavery probably isn't a good topic for me to use.

jeez, you don't have to be a good at history. Just make connections to relevant topics affecting black culture and other crap. That's what I mean by bullshitting. Bullshitting isn't necessarily writing false and incorrect information about a topic that you know nothing about. It's more about just writing a good essay by just thinking critically about a simple idea and not necessarily being an expert on the topic. I've done that hundreds of times in my honors and AP english/history classes.

English papers normally judge on form and grammer and content placement, not the actual content. As long as you're saying something relevant you should be fine. You could do one on the effects of colonization and how it formed the U.S.A., Australia, so on and so forth if you know more about that.

Oh, I thought you meant literally bullshit it. Make up fact after fact. I did that for Womens Roles from some years that had no research available, and the grade was sickening.

huh? content and ideas have always been the main key in grading papers for my teachers. You could have good grammar and language, but the paper is useless without good content.

btw AAE, what grade are you in?

I'm only in ninth, but I've always been told that while the teachers may count off for wrong content, it won't cout off as much as say bad grammar or lacking of a thesis, etc.

Want to know a sickening grade? My engineering teacher gave me a 0 on a portfolio grade that I turned in right in front of his nose and even asked him where to put it. It just so happens portfolio grades are 50% of our semester average, and we only had 3, so that one grade was a little over 16% of my whole grade and brought my grade down from a 95 to a 78. Whattastupidfuckingbitch.

I'd count the thesis as part of the content. My teachers don't care that much about grammar and spelling as long as you have a good thesis and good arguments supporting the thesis. Of course, they'll still take off for mediocre grammar and spelling.

Well that could be because the English I'm in/have been in is more focused on HOW to write papers, but I bet in the future it will be more what you're talking about since the teachers will expect us to know it already.

That's only if the cops find out.

I can't wait until college!!! What specific medicine are you studying?

JoY

general medicine. it takes four years of basic general medicine untill you can specialise. I don't know yet in which area I want to practice, but I've got more than enough time to think about it & make up my mind. :] right now I'm considering lung specialism & psychiatry.
