Jimmy Buffett........

Margaritaville rocks! (Don't mind me, but I have sang that song way too many times drunk at the bonfire...)

Also, I forgot to say David Bowie, which is really dumb because WCM had just said it and I thought "Yeah, David Bowie is good"... Neil Young also has some good stuff... and as I was reminded of today... Bryan Adams.

When i really think about it, most of the stuff i listen to are bands, even the hip hop i like is often a group (ie public enemy, beastie boys, ect).

I really dig Joe Strummer's solo stuff, the same with Billy Bragg; and i'm in love with Tom Gabel's new EP. And i guess I could include NIN, since it's basically Trent anyways.

Eric Clapton.

Whenever I think "solo artist" I think of someone who does nearly everything themselves. Eric Clapton wouldn't fit under that category, but it fits the type of solo artists you've all be naming, and he is my favorite one. So there.

Sorry, you are all wrong. The correct answer is Tom Waits.

While Bob Dylan is a pure classic, I maintain that his son, Jakob, has much more musical/vocal talent than Bob ever had...

Jimi Hendrix was not a solo artist. The band was called Jimi Hendrix Experience. Or later on, Band of Gypsys.

That said, mine are:

- Elliott Smith;
- Aimee Mann;
- Jeff Buckley;
- Jim Ward;
- Chris Cornell (used to be, the new record blows);
- Skin
