I love this show. It's filmed in the city I live in about 40 mins from where I live. I'm curious if anyone else on this board has heard of it. It's a soapie set in Australia. There is another show called Neighbours which is its competition here, but Home and away is MUCH more popular and heaps more entertaining.

So have you heard of the show or better yet even watched it?

Nope, I have never heard of it. To me, all soaps besides eastenders suck.

Most of the soaps you speak of aren't available in the United States, at least none of those you've mentioned.

Mark, you were trying to be funny, I thought the prank was kind of cute. You're a very nice person, now stop crying, get a job, get some anti depressants, find a girlfriend, and you'll be fine. You're funny, nice, caring, cute, and sensitive. Now, I only know one person in this world who is perfect and he probably isn't, it's just my fondness for this person probably overcomes it so you aren't perfect, neither am I. Don't waste yourself on cutting.

Home and Away is awful. I'm convinced it's getting worse and worse, but I used to watch it when I was about 10 so I'm not sure if it's just a gradual decline in quality or if it was always bad. Even the casting has become predictable - skinny blonde tanned surfchicks and nob-head looking yuppie guys with no personalities.

I have been to Palm Beach though. Nice area.

Last time I checked, which was probably about 5 years ago, Neighbours was infinitely better than Home and Away. I watched Home and Away for a couple of years from the start, and it was ok but went downhill. Eastenders was alright last time I watched it, which was also about 5 years ago. I wish they showed UK and Australian soaps in the US. American soaps all suck.

I haven't watched either of them for years, but I used to prefer Neighbours.

Oh, and Eastenders, Corrie, Emerdale, Brookside, Family Affairs blah blah blah all suck. Especially Eastenders; there is NO-WHERE in England that is quite that depressing. Nothing good ever happen daaaaaaahn Albert Square.

It is so, so depressing...

Edit: Add Hollyoaks to that list as well.

I see Days of our lives, Young and the restless and Bold and the beautiful and I seriously wonder what they were thinking.

I'm actually English, I just live in America. I grew up with English and Australian soaps that are actually all of a very high quality when compared to any American soap. First time I saw an American soap it was a serious wtf moment. They are insane.

Are the soaps where you used to live about things other than sex? Damn, all those dramas are about the same thing...even degrassi is getting boring.

Last time I checked there was a lot more going on than sex, but I can't speak for the quality or content these days as I haven't seen any in quite some time.

i used to watch both neighours and home and away when i was little! i went off home and away though and eventually stopped watching neighbours! it was really annoying as they dont have omnibus editions here like they do for programmes like eastenders so if you miss one your stuck!
