Most important in a band?

Guitarist, 'cause with just bass, drums and vocals the sort of music you play is limited. Each of those is vital I think though in a band - drums to add power and keep the pace. Guitar for the melody. Bass for the backbone of the melody. Vocals to add depth and interest.

I'd say Drums...just becuase you need something to play to. If you don't have drums, it just doesn't keep everything together right. I say drums even tho I play guitar so I'm not biased.

BTW I am now a senior member!

You've gotta have it all but your frontman, the vocalist, is the most important, he or she is what gets the crowd motivated.

Songwriting talent.

yes, songwriting talent probably goes above everything

Everything is equally important. At least if you want a good band. You can't have a band without any of those, with the exception of maybe vocals. But even then, good vocals can make or break a band.

Unnatural Disaster

I say guitarist, but I'm biased because I play the guitar.

I voted for vocalist because music sucks with no words.

I've heard great bands without a bass...
I've heard great bands without a guitar...
I've heard great bands without drums...
I've heard great bands without vocals...
But vocals make the most difference in my opinion.
The melody is ussually carried out by the vocals...

I like to sing the most so I am biased..
I do play some instruments though...
I don't like playing instruments =/
