myself, i'm partial to Goodfellas. Casino's good too. fuels my love of vegas. my guess is that The Godfather would be most people's pick, but still curious. oh, or Scarface.

Goodfellas, Scarface and A sharks tell

Scarface is my all time favorite movie, out of all genres.

You missed out Mickey Blue Eyes there.

My vote'll go to Scarface. Godfather's great and everything, just draggs a bit in the final 2 films

i didn't make it a poll for a reason.

and each godfather flick stands on it's own, you don't vote for the series... so if you love the first one, just say the first one.

In that case, I say Scarface.

The Godfather films obviously. Number two is my favorite.

Second pick I would choose Scarface. That is great.

I want to say something old school to sound all savvy and cool, but nothing comes to mind. So i'll pretty much side with what's been said so far.

Russian mafia movies are amazing too.

has anybody seen the movie "The Mafia"? it is a parody of other mafias and technically is a mafia movie so i pick that, but my favorite real mafia movie is GoodFellas

Reservoir Dogs was pretty good.

I knew a Nazbol who said that there is no Russian mafia, they are all jews. (apparently so were all the pimps as well.)

My dad while stationed in Moscow in the 70's, was once invited to sail on a yacht with the head of the Russian mafia. He turned it down though. :(

since when is that a mafia movie? it's just crime.

Omni

You're probably right. But I've always thought of those group of criminals as like mob bosses or a small crime family or something.

Is it a rule that mafia movies have to be 4 eons long? wtf. I liked Goodfellas and Scarface.

One of my favorite movies is Scarface, but one of the best mafia movies I've seen is The Untouchables.

i'm in the minority here, but i wasn't blown away by Scarface, it was very good, but not Best Movie of All Time. Montana was too much of a prideful character for me to connect with him and i think that hurt my enjoyment of the movie.

I havent seen many mafia movies but The Godfather Part I is probalby the best one i've seen. Brando makes that movie for me.

Either way, Pacino pwns this thread.
yeah, he's pretty much the man.

I love the Godfather movies. It makes me think of my grandfather. There is this sense of family I like about the movies. Its great. There not too much swearing either. I notice all newer movies its all fuck this fuck that. Not that I hate badwords but it sounds stupid.

Goodfellas wins easily for me. My second choice is probably Donnie Brasco.

Scarface bored the hell out of me and I've somehow never gotten around to seeing the Godfather films.

Goosfellas is my favourite too. I don't like mafia movies in general because every time I see one I feel so jealous. God, I would give my everything to be in a mafia.

I find the lifestyle appealing too. Except it appears far too easy to get killed over nothing. Oh, and I'm not too hot on killing innocent people.

Resevoir Dogs, Goodfellas, Scarface, Casino, Deception and the Business.

Out of those few, my all-time favourite is Goodfellas mainly because of the incredible acting from Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.

Scarface is a classic, though it takes a little long to get good.

scarface is the most overrated "mafia" movie of all time. if the corleones and montana decided to have a lil "war" it wouldnt even be close. tony montana was just a doped up crackhead cuban.

I do not care for mafia movies. The first 2 Godfathers and Casino are the only ones that are special and memorable to me. The rest are all the same paint-by-numbers crap I've seen a hundred times.

JoY
01-12-2006, 04:12 AM
somehow I've seen quite a few movies mentioned here, but don't remember a single detail from them. well, bits & pieces, but nothing significant. it's annoying & at the same time it just tells me those kind of movies just don't move me. which is alright.

I liked Scarface. I know that for a fact. not enough to ever put it on the list of my favorite movies of all time, but yeah.

If a movie is dumb enough, it is hilarious. I cracked up during Son of the Mask and Fat Albert.

Edit: Oh, but I liked the disclaimers at the beginning and the end of the movie.

That's because the Haye's code required every immoral act in a movie to be punished and addressed to the audience. But major props for knowing what I was talking about.
