Read, it's quite interesting. Maybe.

Edit: If this belongs in Politics, just go ahead and move it.

you would think that they would of noticed that, i found it humourous and i called wal-mart idiots because of that, i have only shopped at wal-mart once and am glad what i got but wont go back there again

I don't see the problem. People are complaining because a movie about a person got mixed in with a movie about Apes from outer space? Why?

I am the lightning rod
01-12-2006, 05:55 PM
because they want something to cry about

Igniton
01-12-2006, 05:55 PM
well some people are offended and take the matter more than it is, i wouldnt be ashamed or anything if it happened but i do find this story interesting

there you go

TheUnholyNightbringer
01-12-2006, 05:56 PM
Because the person in question was Martin Luther King.

ruroken
01-12-2006, 05:57 PM
So fucking what? He's a person, not a God. He may have done stuff, but that doesn't mean people should be offended by where his movie gets placed.

I am the lightning rod
01-12-2006, 05:59 PM
who would want to watch a movie on mlk anyway, unless its for school or something, im not racist but that would be a boring movie

ruroken
01-12-2006, 06:01 PM
Yeah. All he did was make speeches.

The Talking Pie

You know, it's probably some black rights activist who's been trying to get people to pay attention to serious matters for five minutes by linking it with the kind of crap people will more likely be devoting their attention to (that is, the apes). These things swing both ways.

I think they should do it more often. Put serious/decent stuff in the same category as stupid/popular stuff, and the masses will mindlessly obey orders and flock to it.

Jebus
01-12-2006, 06:02 PM
Ruroken, the point isn't that it's about martin luther king. It's that they recommended a movie relating to black peopele when viewing planet of the apes. Cause you know... the whole stereotype of black people and monkeys looking alike...

TheUnholyNightbringer
01-12-2006, 06:02 PM
So fucking what? He's a person, not a God. He may have done stuff, but that doesn't mean people should be offended by where his movie gets placed.

The idea is that a black man was compared with apes.

By the way.. he did STUFF?! Sometimes your stupidity astounds me.

I don't see the problem. People are complaining because a movie about a person got mixed in with a movie about Apes from outer space? Why?

Because "Planet of the Apes" showed under 'similar titles':

Introducing Dorothy Dandridge
Martin Luther King : I have a Dream
Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson
What's Love Got To Do With It

ruroken
01-12-2006, 06:06 PM
What do you mean? You want me to say SPECIFICALLY what he said? Well, you can forget about that. But, shit, STUFF means he did STUFF. Anything. At all. Yeah, so stop being a dickweed when you know goddam well what I mean.

ruroken
01-12-2006, 06:07 PM
So what? We're all a variety of monkey. And those monkeys just happened to be black. Goodness...hahahaa

Jebus
01-12-2006, 06:09 PM
Ruroken, stop talking.

I am the lightning rod
01-12-2006, 06:09 PM
i understand where they are coming from but its not that big of a deal at all

ruroken
01-12-2006, 06:10 PM
It was a joke, stoopit.

@ Jebus & that guy without a sense of humor

01-12-2006, 06:10 PM

There are so many things wrong with that sentence...

Igniton
01-12-2006, 06:13 PM
well he was an inspiration for most and there is a reason many people still quote him today, he may not be that important to you but to many. i read his biography so maybe i might feel for him more but i dont know

nieh
01-12-2006, 06:18 PM

I agree that it's really not a big deal as it probably was nothing more than human error, but Ruroken's being an idiot for not seeing why something like this might upset people.

ruroken
01-12-2006, 06:20 PM
Because it's not a big deal. They probably didn't start cussing anyone out though, so I'm not saying it was stupid to tell Wal-Mart of their error.

nieh
01-12-2006, 06:30 PM
I don't know if you realize it, but you have a tendency to embarass yourself pretty much every time you get worked up over something...which is almost daily now it seems.

TheUnholyNightbringer
01-12-2006, 06:55 PM
nieh's right. Ruroken, just stop it.

T-6005
01-12-2006, 07:35 PM
Nieh and TUNB are completely right. I was going to say it... I read all the way through the thread and got here and the only thing that jumped out at me was the unbelievable ignorance you showed, ruroken.

Please don't ever show that amount of stupidity ever again.

that kind of thing happens all the time when you buy pirate cds. It's like buying a Kinder Egg.

*blinks*

Martin Luther King was simply a "man" who did "stuff"? One of the most important figures in human history, a pivotal figure in the civil rights movement , a pioneer who changed the world is just a "man" who did "stuff"?

And this is coming from a teenage anime fiend who can't function properly in ANY kind of community, online or offline, too scared to even talk to anyone, who just stays at home and jacks off over Brandon Boyd pictures and lyrics and cries tears of joy whenever Akira is on his television...?

Double you tee eff?

Seriously, if someone decided to completely destroy human life, I'd take one look at ruroken and say "Meh. Can't blame you".

Rick, dude.... I have to say something in response to what you said....

Well put. Well put indeed.

For some reason though, I keep thinking of the Titus episode where he said that Galileo "did stuff". It was humorous there. Not so much so in real life.

And yes, BBS ignorance is comparable to real-life ignorance in my book.

i have a few speeches of MLK in mp3 about the vietnam war. He sounds very revolutionary-ish and have a very sensitive truth about the war crimes against the villagers, but his religiosity gives the speech a psychotic tone.

You mean Galileo didn't do stuff!? Shit! *tears up 10 page essay on Galileo and begins to sob*

Aside from the empirical method and observing the phases of Venus, thereby proving the Copernican model to be correct... not much. Just a few brilliant breakthroughs, other than that.

Pffffffffft, that's nothing! Brandon Boyd wrote "Drive"!!!

That image loses points because it's Albert Einstein. What the fuck did he do compared to say, Brandon Boyd? Or Akira Toriyama? Not a DAMN THING.

How did I miss this? I demand that everyone read what Rick said. It's pure genius. I love it. Shit, sticky this bastard.

Ruroken, you're a fucking tool. You rejoice when people tell you to shut up and tell you you're an idiot. Tell me, are you THAT anonymous in your waking life that here you feel you must love any attention directed toward you, good or bad?

No, I know what he's doing, because I did stuff like this, waaay back in Summer '05. Whenever he gets insulted, he tries to make it look like he's unnaffected, when he's really teh sadz.

TheUnholyNightbringer
03-05-2006, 08:04 PM
Makes him look like a snivelling creep to me.

ruroken
03-05-2006, 08:10 PM
No, I really found that funny.
I dun see why it's so wrong to laugh at yourself...

TheUnholyNightbringer
03-05-2006, 08:11 PM
It's the fact you're laughing at someone calling you an idiot.

Also, it's the WAY you do it. Everytime someone makes a joke you like, you fucking fellate them. It's creepy.

ruroken
03-05-2006, 08:13 PM
But this stuff was so true, it was great. I'd sig it all if I could, but there was just too much...

TheUnholyNightbringer
03-05-2006, 08:14 PM
See? It's really creepy, ruroken.

0r4ng3
03-05-2006, 08:14 PM
Ironically enough, your sig isn't even from the forums.

ruroken
03-05-2006, 08:17 PM
Yeah, it's from the magazine. It's really funny though. hahaha, dumbass Take-Two.

TheUnholyNightbringer
03-05-2006, 08:17 PM
I bet if he called you a moron you'd love him.

Jebus
03-05-2006, 08:18 PM
Like I said before

What's worst in these types of situations? Offspring monkey looking stupid by just going along or looking stupid by trying to defend himself?
replace Tom with Ruroken.

TheUnholyNightbringer
03-05-2006, 08:19 PM
Or he could just plain ignore it. For me, being insulted and then going "OMG, THAT WAS SEW FUNNY, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH <3<3<3<3" is just.. ugh. Have some self-respect.

ruroken
03-05-2006, 08:21 PM
What's there to respect about me? Seriously, name something. Go on, try.

You have a very good point. But rather than just sitting there and accepting it, why don't you try and change that?

TheUnholyNightbringer

Nothing that I can see. But your self-h8ing attitude really annoys me.

For the sake of Dave's sanity, I won't even say what I was going to say.
hell, you could easily guess it.
