i really like sum 41, i have 2 of their CDs (All Killer No Filler and Chuck), no band beats the offspring though, my favorite songs by them have to be (in no order):

No Reason
Some Say
Open Your Eyes
In Too Deep
Handle This
Pieces
Fat Lip
Rythms
Still Waiting
The Hell Song
Noots

Never Gonna Find Me

Theyre ok. I only have All Killer No Filler and its ok. I think I have to be in the right mood to listen to them.

I really like them! they changed a lot since *1/2 hour of power* and *all killer...* they're so damn good and i really like *Chuck*, but i still preffer *Does this...?* also they're so funny in concert, i haven't been in a concert of them [i don't relly know if they've ever visited spain] but i've the DVD of the concert in Japan...
And my fav song is HELL SONG, and one of my favs videoclips too! maybe, the best to laugh, tied in the scoreboard with Pretty Fly...

They sound a little bit like the Offspring, but not too much. The also have some Pennywise reference, too.

My favorite song by them is No Brains. My favorite album is DTLI?.

Reference? I think you mean influence.

Oh right, that's the word I was looking for. I knew "reference" sounded wierd.

I think they are pretty good. I prefer their newer stuff quite a bit more than their older stuff. Does This Look Infected? is my favorite album of theirs.

So people actually like Sum 41? Well. I never.

yay
01-19-2006, 05:36 PM
I've got Does this look infected and it's pretty good. I wouldn't buy any of their other albums though. I personally think Sum 41 has a lot of Offspring influence, they credit Offspring in the album DTLI. But then again Blink 182 also credit Offspring in Enema of the state and they don't really sound alike.

I don't mind some Sum 41 songs. I hated most of Chuck, though.

Does This Look Infected? was probably my favorite album.

Chuck sounds so much more, well mature then any other of their albums. i like Chuck, i think its kinda cool that the entire album sounds the same, even though you start to get tired of it after a while. but all in all it a great album. I'm gonna agree with everyone else Does This Look Infected is their best album, i love Still Waiting and Hyper-Insomnia-Para-Condioid and The Hell Song. Plus this was the First album i bought from them, i got into them cause i heard Still Waiting and Thanks For Nothing on a flash animation by Metal Maverick Productions by the name of Gamer Elite Episode 1(i highly recomand this flash artest if your into flash animation). I just fell in love with thoes songs, and bought the album about 4 days later. And I just bought some songs of iTunes of All Killer, No Filler, just Fat Lip, Motivation and In Too Deep and they are good songs. I really like Sum 41 their a good band, however i know a lot of people dont like them, i dont know why.

I think Chuck is a very good album with really good songs on it.

Apathy
02-01-2006, 05:41 PM
they'd be better if they didn't think that they had to rhyme every single song. It seems to be burned into their brains that that is a requirement of preforming.

I still have most of their cd's. All but DTLI?.

02-01-2006, 05:44 PM
DTLI? is their best album

I love them, but is anyone annoyed how Chuck, while a good album, rips off either Metallica, Linkin Park, Offspring, Oasis, or Papa Roach in EVERY SONG?

good band...
I like Yesterday.com, Hyper-Istomiam, All messed up
True californian...
pop-punk.
rather funny. make my mood better

I love Sum, but omg they plagiarize so much. (Lol, kinda ironic coming from me)

Haha wow, The Bitter End has both the same riff AND the same vocal melody as Battery by Metallica.

I love Sum, but here's some more rip offs.

"Summer" has nearly identical intro guitar as The Offspring's "Beheaded" and the drums kick in at the same time.

"The Hell Song" and "Still Waiting" Both rip off "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback in certain parts.

"Still Waiting" and "Mr. Amsterdam" both rip off "Dammit I Changed Again" by The Offspring.

"Some Say" is basically "Wonderwall" by Oasis.

"There's no Solution" rips off a Linkin Park song.

Yet, I still for "sum" reason love Sum 41.

Apparently brown sound has quit the band http://punknews.org/article/17471 ( http://punknews.org/article/17471)

Baksh released a statement saying:

I couldn't continue on creatively in Sum 41 without being a thorn in the side of the band. As people grow, they change, All I can ask is that our fans understand and accept my thanks for being there for me whenever I was feeling happy, sad or depressed.

The first thing Steve [Jocz], Cone [McCaslin] and Deryck [Whibley] told me was that they just want me to be happy. It was awesome to hear that we all had the same feelings,
Dave will instead concentrate on his classic metal project, Brown Brigade. He is currently auditioning vocalists and working on material for the band.

I've got Does this look infected and it's pretty good. I wouldn't buy any of their other albums though. I personally think Sum 41 has a lot of Offspring influence, they credit Offspring in the album DTLI.

They also credit offspring in AKNF, which is my favorite album. All killer no filler was the first cd i ever owned ( I saw "fat lip" on mtv and instantly become a fan ) I love every single track on that album and i'll stick it in my cd player once in a while to bring back memories.

well we should start saying good bye to sum 41. Obviously, the band will never be the same without the guitarrist (whatever his name is), but i think they were good until they released "we're all to blame", which sounds A LOT (at least to me) to SOAD's chop suey

Well Brownsound didn't really write any of the songs, so the Sum41 'sound' will remain the same.
