View Full Version : Why do the guys have such bad luck with drummers?

Back in the day, they had James Lija, then he quit, then they got Ron, and he ditched them, and now there's rumors of Atom leaving (Which hopefully, aren't true.)
Your thoughts?

same reason you make shitty threads.

Atom may leave or he may stay, There is no evidence to say he is even considering leaving... Band members have side projects all the time

There are a lot of topics regarding Atom and The Offspring. Couldn't you have just written this as a reply in one of those other topics?

How many threads do we need to make about this...

kami_mathieu
01-24-2006, 02:24 AM
... cause this thread isn't about attom leavin, it's about theyr jynx when it comes to drummers.

back on topic: it seems like the offspring allways has a bit basic drum lines, I guess drummers get sick of playing that same line over and over again and start to look for something more chalenging.

And once again, why exactly couldn't it have been added to another thread? I like trying to split hairs as much as the next person, but that is splitting it a little too fine.

that tends to be what happens with drummers in any band. Most bands that are popular for a long time, run through several drummers. AC/DC has had at least three, but i think more. It just comes with the territory. Drummers generally burn out before the rest of the band.

Before I start to repeat myself too much, i'll stop, because there are only so many ways to say that bands tend to go through drummers.

kami_mathieu
01-24-2006, 06:05 AM
^with asking if annyone noticed that, I referred to how stupid it sounds to point out that there are actually offspring related threads on the offspring message boards.

but on the burning out part, I agree. it seems like drummers are less a part of the band as they are allways in the background, and therefore have a less strong connection with the other members, wich makes it easier for them to leave.

They had great luck with Ron. 16 years is a long time.

I hope that they find a drummer though. It would really suck if they couldn't. If I could, I would do drums for them.

I think the drumers are sick of always playing the same beat also that Dexter is writing most of them.ask a guy like Travis Barker from blink-182 to play in the offspring and he will be so bored.I like the drums the way they are in the offspring , they just have to find a guy that wont be sick of playing the same stuff over and over.

Sorry to tell you this, but every brummer in a band thats famous, plays the same beats over and over all the time. Not just in the Offspring. They aren't boring either, they're actually kind of fun to play.

i think its harsh that avereyone slags of the drums recorded on recent offspring albums! they arent the most adventurous you will hear but they worked for the song and thats whats important rather than ridiculously over playing!

in reference to the "bad luck", as everyone says, theyve only had 3 drummers and one of those was for 15 years!

At least I won't feel the tiki torch. Sounds like I'd be dead first. Come to think of it, despite the fact she obviously thinks this is a gory death, you'd die of the decapitation first, and whatever she does after that wouldn't be a bother.
