DVD probably won't work with Windows Media Player.

First, do you have a DVD-player in your computer? If so, just download some software and it does it for you.

I recommend InterVideo WinDVD to playing DVD movies in your computer. If you wanna rip just download Auto Gordian Knot and DVD Shrink.

Yes, you can. But first just download both programs. If you will have any question/problem write it here.

Get DVD shrink, that rips dvds to your computer and compresses them if you need to.

Get DVD shrink, that rips dvds to your computer and compresses them if you need to.DVD Shrink is by far the best. It removes copy protection as well as doing what was said above.

I use DVDShrink for movies. If you really want to costumize your rips I'd recommend DVD Decrypter in combinanation with AutoGK and AnyDVD, but that requires a bit more skills I guess.

I just googled "shrink free" and a page where I could download it by free came out. And I have PowerDVD for playing that files. Both programs work good for me

Yes, I think...

By the way, I'm thinking that I got the Shrink program in Emule... Not sure...

If you don't find it in the net, try Emule or Limeware or whatever you use...

And I'm quiet sure that a cd rewriter cannot play DVD... I don't know as I got my new pc with a DVD rewriter. Before that i never needed to do anything with DVDs on my pc

No, you don't need a DVD-writer for ripping a DVD. You need a DVD-reader.

But since you're totally new to this, and absolutely have no idea how things work, you should use a guide rather than asking it here:

www.doom9.org provides all the information you need. Check out the 'Guides' section. 'DVD Backup' and 'Separate ripping steps' are the ones you're looking for.
