For those of you that didn't know, that "come on people now...." thing was taken from an old 60s song Get Together by The Youngbloods.

Kurt isn't the one that says it at the beginning, at least I don't think. I always thought it was Krist. It could be Dave though, but it doesn't sound like him either.

not a fan of nirvana... they even admitted that a lot of their songs didn't have real lyrics at points and he would just mumble. And the times when there are lyrics, it's always so hard to understand him cause he just mumbles through everything...

Hey, If you do not like Nirvana, it doesn't mean that this band is bad.
P.S. In this topic discuss not Nirvana, but the cover of Territorial pissings

Dya not think Amazed sounded like a Nirvana song...had Kurt not gone the way of old Yeller. Listen to it, and imagine Kurt singing. Obviously you have to imagine that he can sing better...but Dexter's voice is very grungy. As for the TerriPiss cover its a good cover, it made me like Nirvana for a while...

The Offspring don't deserve the right to cover anything by Cobain.

I always thought that song sounded like Nirvana or Bush too.

Dude, you are way too obsessed with Nirvana. They were good, but they weren't that great. Dave Grohl sucked at drums and Kurt Cobain wasn't great, either.

bd007h

hearing Dave's drumming doesn't do the justice that seeing his drumming does.

yeah, it's Krist, I just saw a video of Nirvana playing Territorial pissings on SNL, and Krist says that before the song.

I second that. When I first heard the "yea-eh" parts, I thought Nirvana.

bd007h, how is kurt cobain's lyrical style or his musical style superior? Most of his lyrics have always sounded very mudane and unimaginative. The grunge style was creative, yes, because nobody had really tapped into that style before them. That is the only big credit Nirvana gets, though, IMO. Nirvana's songs tend to sound very similar to eachother to me, and his lyrics do nothing for me. You may disagree, but I don't think it's stupid or dumb for me to have an opinion.

bd007h
02-12-2006, 09:24 PM
Kurt's lyrics may not have done much for you, but in the grand scheme of things, I think his Musical and lyrical style have affected WAY many more people than Dexter's ever will.

by the way, I have a video of The Offspring's performance of Territorial Pissings.

I agree fully that nirvana affected more people than the offspring. Nirvana is a band that was far more famous and will become legendary. That doesn't always make a band better, though. I mean, look at U2 or Aerosmith. I don't think either of those bands were amazingly talented (especially U2... barf). But they've affected a LOT of people are legendary.

Damn, I wasn't expecting to see this turn into a Nirvana Vs. Offspring thread, but I'm actually shocked. My two cents--both bands equally kicked ass. Stop bitching about which one is better, they both have their faults and their positive points. Lighten up.

Back on topic though--I thought that was a nice cover, I'd always imagine the Offspring doing that song(it'd be sweet to hear a studio version of that.). Cover wise I thought it was cool the sound quality(at least on the one I have) is kinda crappy.
