View Full Version : I Killed My Brain

I am now completely done with my Graduation Paper.

In the line of education I am taking, one of the requirements is to write a 15 page long paper. You will not know what the topic of the paper will be specifically until one week before it is due. A few months before you choose which subject to write it in. I chose English (mistake, because the teacher is very confused). And then a few months later you limit it to what you want to write about (I chose the American Revolution and the concept of liberty.)

My English teacher being very confused twisted my Statement of Problem into 4 parts that really don't fit in together.

I was thankfully able to fit it all into one report though, with coherency.

But I'm brain-dead now.

So anyone want to read it? My Statement of Problem is:

Describe the American Revolution from a British as well as an American perspective.

Discuss the American relations to Britain at the time of the revolution and assess the relationship since WWII- illustrate with examples

Analyse how the ideas of freedom in a democracy can affect the foreign policy

Finally assess how governments communicate with their people to gain support for their policy.

bah!

I hate it!

Congratulations!

At the end of the semester, I'm giving a 20 min. presentation on a postmodern interpretation of Spanglish.

Post it up man, it's always refreshing to read your work.

Thank you for your confidence. However this is a dry re-telling of facts, and analyse spanning 15 pages. I can almost gaurantee you, that you will be bored and leave from it no smarter than you were before.

Seems like the first two statements would fit together rather nicely, as well as the second two. I suppose connecting the two halves so to speak was the problem.

Yeah exactly.

The thing is the form of it should be that the first two were description, on the basis of this the 3rd should be the analysis (hey..anal?) and form the large body (whoa..large body) of the report. And then the final comment should be the perspective put into the conclusion.

My friend for example got, Give a brief summary of the History of Rhodesia, analyse the goals and means of the White Government up until 1980. Give a description of the effect on the general populace today.

You see, MUCH more coherence than what I got. Because my teacher is a confuzzled old lady who hates her job.

Is that 15 pages single spaced or double spaced?

Andy

I'll give it a proper going over tomorrow. Bit more of a hefty read than I first anticipated. Bloody English students, I don't know.

I' m printing it out now. I have to print 3 copies. With the added table of contents, and front page, it's a total of 19 pages, that x3 is 57 pages total.

If I was getting a degree I'd have to write a lot more. But it feels like it.

Yes, you have an interesting work! As for me I dislike write reports and competitions so I'll take a real exam: in June I'll pass 5 subjects with 25 topics that I must learn by heart. I haven't learn none of it by now. I think it'll be more easier. But write about revolution... Good luck!

The Russian Revolution is interesting as well!

Yes, It's rather interesting. I think all revolutions can be compeared, them all has the same. But Russian Revolution was very bloody. And I know it's bad but I'm very bad in history. And I didn't understand if your topic is about revolution why you must write about WW2 and american relations with other countries. Is it all consequence of American Revolution?

hmm essentially because the American Revolution was to break free from England. The revolution had certain ideas with it, about freedom. So Americans understand Freedom, and other countries, differently. And this all affects America's foreign policy because it is, when it comes down to things, a government that is a democracy and needs to have people's approval for most of the time.

Rocky-girl
02-10-2006, 01:01 PM
Yes I see. So why did you take Revolution not the Civil War? I think it depends on relations with others countries too.

Because I wanted to learn more about the American revolution. I think I know enough about the Civil War. And yes it affects things, but the Revolutionary war was the birth of America, it has a much larger effect on their views, and how things will go.

Rocky-girl
02-10-2006, 01:10 PM
You know I always take that topic that I know well when I read your thread I found out that I know more about Civil War and if I need I start write about it. Hm, I think you're god student if you choose(I forgot how to write this word) that topic by yourself.

11 is the second highest grade you can get. The highest is 13 (don't ask, Denmark is weird), but 13s are very rare. Someone in my parallel class got one though.

In some places, 13's good luck, or so I've heard.
