View Full Version : Most ignored Offspring tracks

What are some of the most ignored tracks? The ones that, no matter how good or bad you think they are, people just don't seem to talk about ever? My list:

A Thousand Days
Out On Patrol
Nothing From Something
So Alone
No Brakes
All Along
Leave It Behind
Not The One
Long Way Home
Elders

What's crazy is that most of these are some of my favorites! Leave It Behind, Out On Patrol, Elders, and No Brakes are some of my favorite songs of all time. Still, not that many people seem to mention these songs, at least not from what I've noticed.

Something To Believe In
It'll Be A Long Time

I forgot to include these! It frustrated me because Something To Believe In is one of my favorite songs too, and is the one I listen to most often on Smash (except for Nitro). It's such an amazing song, but no one seems to notice.

For a while that was my favorite song ever. It sucks that it never gets mentioned :(

No Brakes is ignored way too often; glad people realize that.

I agree that unfortunately Leave It Behind isn't mentioned a lot. That used to be my favourite song. That's still my top 5 though I think.

Leave It Behind
Cool To Hate
A Thousand Days
Out On Patrol
Get It Right (I've hardly heard anyone talk about this great song)
Something To Believe In
End Of The Line
No Brakes
Dammit I Changed Again

I second, third, and fourth "Jennifer Lost the War" (go figure, right? ;) )

Also, most of the ones already mentioned. My all-time favorite overlooked songs, though, are "Forever and a Day" and "The Noose." "Forever and a Day" gets no love! I don't get it!

Oh, and "Amazed."

JohnnyNemesis
02-14-2006, 09:28 AM
I forgot that "Forever And A Day" gets no love because I never shut up about it! I listen to that song way more than any other on Ignition...or so my iTunes says :D

In fact, come to look at it, I've listened to "Forever And A Day" more than any Offspring song since I got iTunes! I musta listened to it so many hundreds of times since I bought the CD...

Fuck, I love that song so much I could cry.

GAHHH slightly off topic post!

I'll say Me & My Old Lady. Nobody pays enough attention to that great song.
And Johnny, your list sucks, except No Brakes.

Leave it Behind is one of the best songs on Ixnay, imo. But I guess it's a bit different from the rest of the album, so maybe people kind of forget it when they think of that album.
And the fact that no one's mentioned I'll Be Waiting makes me sad. =( It quickly became my favourite on st.

"Forever and a day" is fucking amazing, I just can't understand why people don't talk about it as much as about other songs (e.g: Dirty Magic, Self Esteem...). Mmmh, it's even the most played song on my audioscrobbler (http://www.last.fm/user/Cejus/)! I specially love the lyrics:

"Lean on me while I lean on you,
if we destroy each other we might save a life or two."

I love it! :D Other underrated songs, in my opinion, are:

No brakes
The end of the line
Amazed
Elders
Leave it behind
Come out swinging

I do care:
We are one
Something to believe in
The end of line

I don't care:
Leave at behind (strange song-there is missing something, very short,it should have been longer)

I don't frequent the General Offspring Discussion forum too often, and none of my friends listen to The Offspring. All I can say is that it's unfortunate that all of these songs are overlooked. Especially Leave It Behind. I really like that song, but I don't listen to it much. Living in Chaos is another good one, because I can see a non-Offspring (or non-punk) fan enjoying it.

"Leave It Behind" is in my opinion probably the third-best song on Ixnay.

Where's the love for "Leave It Behind"?

Another one, as for more recent tracks, definitely "Never Gonna Find Me". That guitar is just grinding and kickass.

Most of Splinter...conspiracy i just don't listen to. I don't know why, but the Offspring (next to Manson) are one of those bands that everone i knew about 5 years ago...myself included...really loved but then just out-grew them.
Loving Bad Habit/self esteem is a whole different thing to loving Hit That. Its still a good song, its just its life span as a song i'll listen to activly is around a few weeks.

I like don't pick it up, and it is way ignored.

and conspiracy of one is majorly overlooked, and it's a really good song, especially for the album it's on :P I also think "Never Gonna Find Me" is overlooked and "Special Delivery".

I don't think CO1 (the song I mean) is as ignored as you might think cause it's already been played live while some songs like Not The One, Don't Pick It Up, Leave it behind and more were never played live.

Agreed that song rocks, along with most of self titled album these are too overlooked in the idea that they don't play many of them live anymore.
