Which one of Maynard James Keenan's bands do you think are better: A Perfect Circle or Tool?

Well, the first problem is that APC is infact Billy Howerdel's band.

I want to get into Tool, but I can't find their music anywhere. Anyone want to upload for me? :o Thanks.

I say Tool, I've heard more as I have 2 of their albums.

It was Tool for me. But A Perfect Circle just lacks that weird science fiction crap that Tool was into. Which makes them more listenable. And I'm such a slut for James Iha (except when he is solo).

I used to love Tool but now there's only a few songs I think are anything more than just "meh". I tried getting into APC before and never really succeeded. They have some neat stuff pop up here and there (mostly the drumming) but hardly ever have a really good song.

I don't have any cd's from either, but from what I have heard on the radio, they are both incredible bands. I would like to get a few of both of theirs soon (unless someone wants to upload some for me ;) ). But just because Tool has an incredible drummer, I am going with them.

I love both bands, but I'm gonna disagree with a lot of you here and go with APC. I just got into them a lot more than Tool for some reason. Although Motive was fucking horrible, the 2 good albums they've done make up for it.

eMotive is a cover album. and in that respect it is a good cover album, it reinterprets old classics and the timing for it's release was brilliant. Not to mention that the original songs on it are great.

I know it's a cover album, but I think that they were just bad covers. They killed "Imagine" and Black Flag's "Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie", not to mention a lot of others. I give them credit for re-arranging the songs as boldly as they did, but the simple fact is that they weren't good songs. And they can do a lot better than that, because they proved it before. "The Nurse Who Loved Me" is one of the best covers that I've ever heard.

I don't know, I thought the cover of Imagine was great. It gave it an incredibly dark feel which goes very well with the atmosphere there music is surrounded in. Turning it from an idealistic song to one that almost seems sarcastic and sardonic.

I can see what you mean, but I just can't listen to it.

But like I said, one thing I will give that album credit for is that is how covers should be done. Bands shouldn't just play the song by the numbers, they should experiment and do things with them, which although those select songs didn't work out well, I give them major credit for doing it at all.
