what are presants?

It always amuses me when a person who's first language isn't english corrects an english person's spelling. Nice one Willem ;)

How do you know his first language is English? There are other than English people living in the UK.

nan is a very english person english word

Linda
12-09-2004, 12:40 PM
Perhaps, but also consider that he may be very young, and he's not the only one here that mispells words. Some of you people are way too critical.

wliethof

I think a seven year old should be able to spell presents correctly. if the person even meant presents. Maybe presants is some english thing I've never heard of.

Linda
12-09-2004, 12:56 PM
Not necessarily. Everyone doesn't have the same capability to spell correctly, no matter what age they are. Doesn't mean people have to make fun of them.

My first language is not English and I know how to spell that. mr uk whatever should know too.

Linda
12-09-2004, 01:00 PM

Tired_Of_You

Yeah, I'm not blind.
No need to put 30 interrogation marks.
I still believe he should be able to spell the word presents.

Linda
12-09-2004, 01:04 PM
You're dense. and I'll put as many question marks as I want.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????
:p

Seriously, I see alot of people here, older people who do have English as their first language, spell words wrong. My point is, everyone is not a perfect speller, in any language.

Yeah, but agree that this word is really simple and everyone who has English as their first language should know how to spell words like that. Damn, I even know how to write "presents" in English and I'm not so good.

have fun with questions marks :p

Well.. I don't want to be pedantic, but

"My point is, everyone is not a perfect speller, in any language."

should be..

"My point is, not everyone is a perfect speller, in any language."

But Linda's kind of right, not everyone is a perfect speller. And I don't see why they should be, really.

Well.. kids are brought up with people giving them presents.. so really they should be able to spell it.. "Santa gave me these presents!", Especially if it is their first language

Linda

You're entitled to your opinion, I just don't happen to agree.
