A reminder to anyone who has used the following line on this BBS or anywhere else:

"It's the Internet! You wouldn't say that to me in real life!"

1 - Stop it, you don't look tough.
2 - Guess what? This isn't real life, so your point is fucking moot.

That is all for now, assholes.

Nicole

I'm one of those people that likes the internet as a nice barrier between people and my thoughts on them, but the internet has a different twist - communities are thrown together through a more obsessive mutual interet rather than groups of friends. I wouldn't insult people so easily in real life as when I do on here, but I wouldn't normally subject myself to people I don't like. And in the case of places where I would be thrown together with people - sometimes it's just easier to shut up and make it more comfortable.

But granted - I'm not everybody. I'm just saying that what you're saying isn't true for everybody.

Nina

Next time I have a real life argument I'm gonna say "You wouldn't say that on the internet!"
Hahahaha.

I had typed up some yadda yadda here but I decided it's just not relevant to explain in length that occasionally it kind of rocks to be a bitch online because offline, I'm a really nice person (also, offline I don't seem to meet as many stupid people as I do online).

Paint_It_Black
03-11-2006, 04:03 AM
also, offline I don't seem to meet as many stupid people as I do online

It's just easier to spot them online. In real life idiots can sometimes dazzle us with beauty, deceive us with an intelligent manner of speaking or in some other way delay the realization that they are, in fact, idiots.

Online they have only words, and even a good vocabulary is at best a translucent cloak when draped over idiocy.

I think it's more to do with the fact you just meet more people online. Or rather, have the opportunity to converse with more new people than in real life, with some exceptions like parties and the like. Though in theory I could get to know someone new every day offline, I usually don't.

If we keep on talking on the subject I have to say that insulting on the net is a little easier. Not that beacuse I'm a coward. I just don't like seeing people's sad faces, it's nice to not regretting. Also I don't think there are a lot of people who talk to everyone. I for one, just talk with my certain friends. On the internet you talk with anyone, even if you don't like or hate him.

Anyway, there are more things to prove that internet is better than real life. Especially for shallow people like me. In real life I can easily get annoyed by people's appearance. But here, I mean, I've never seen PiB's pictures but I still want to have sex with him.

And if anyone uses that "it's the internet, you wouldn't say the same blah blah blah..." my answer is "so?". I mean what would happen if I wouldn't say that. You are still an idiot or a retard or whatever. And if anyone uses that sentence as a defence that would make his/her idiocy twice as more (or something like that, I don't know).

Well, it was mostly an attempt at humour. But...well, probably because you intend to remain a virgin?

Hey, while you're here, maybe you could answer a question for me. In Turkey, if someone owed a hospital a fairly large sum of money and couldn't pay it, what would likely happen? Would the person's property be able to be seized to pay the debt?

killer_queen
03-15-2006, 07:06 AM
No, they get stuck in the hospital and they are never allowed to get out of there until they pay. It's not what happens all the time but I heard it on news for a couple of times. But I don't think they take anyone's property.

Gulsah, one of my parents friends just died in a hospital in Turkey. Her husband is out there, and they are trying to make him pay a lot of money, which he doesn't have. His only real possession is the boat he lives on, and we're wondering if he'll lose it. They've also taken his passport. Any idea what will happen to him?

killer_queen

You are still an idiot or a retard or whatever. And if anyone uses that sentence as a defence that would make his/her idiocy twice as more (or something like that, I don't know).

And yet, sometimes it is a lot more idiotic to insult someone on the net than actually behaving what you'd call "idiotic".

killer_queen
03-15-2006, 08:04 AM
And if that person is bd007h it doesn't matter at all =P I thought we got over that Nina, I'm not insulting unnecessarily.

I know how annoying it is when ruroken or CO1 do that but as you said it is sometimes idiotic. Hearing that sentence after critcizing someone would make anyone go crazy.

And Richard, my dad just came and I asked him and he said that he still own his boat probably but he must have lost the other stuff. He wasn't so sure either.

killer_queen, I am not talking about anyone specific, I was directly replying to what I have quoted. You talked about pointing out that people are "retards" or "idiots", and that's what I will never understand.
I myself do insult people too, but only if I consider it necessary, which happens just as much in real life. I just dont get the hype. Why is it so fun to insult people? It was said so often in this thread: "It's so fun to be a bitch", "I just dont like seeing sad faces, so I insult people on the net", "People are such idiots, it needs to be pointed out", etc. I find this type of "logic" (ha) a lot more idiotic than actually being an idiot. Why act like one when you can act as smart as you actually are?

I don't know, maybe. I need to know which hospital it is. Dad has a lot of friends who are doctors in big hospitals, that helps a lot.

Well, I don't want to cause you any inconvenience. I just thought any general information you could give me would be nice. Thanks for asking your dad for me.

Nina, I said retards and idiots as examples beacuse generally people react like "its the internet..." when they are called idiot or retard. I wasn't talking about just them.

And in fact there's no fun about calling someone idiot, it's fun to calling someone idiot you don't like. But sometimes you really need to point it out and you don't want to hurt someone and on the net nobody really cares being called an idiot. I have stopped doing that after I realized I was acting like co1. Being bitchy is not randomly insulting, it is insulting to the ones who fucking annoy you (which I don't do anymore. even though bd007h is... is himself).
