View Full Version : Shaadi!

I can't believe that by next July I'll officially be Mrs Patel! I'm so excited! :D

Oh, and for those of you who hadn't figured it out by now, yes, Dushyant (RXP, memento) and I have been going out for the last 12 months. Now we are engaged to be married as he has finished with schooling, as have I.

I'm just too happy about this!

PS. Shaadi means 'wedding' in Hindi! Of course I'll have to learn Arabic soon so I can join Islam.. But that'll be so exciting, I've always found the Arabic script beautiful.

PPS. Dave, similar UK folk.. You'll come to the wedding, right?

I know, me and Dush, I mean, we fought a lot and tried to deny it but it was just so obvious, you know? Meant to be, or something like that.

Andy
03-31-2006, 01:45 PM
I think you should have an extra-special wedding held just for BBS'ers. You can wear dark red and black, and reply sarcasticly to everything the priest* says.

*or whatever

yeah, we talked about this before. I'm so thrilled about how this worked out. god, I still can't believe it! I mean, I saw it coming on one hand, but on the other.. it's still a huge surprise, you know?

Vera
03-31-2006, 01:54 PM
I know, it all happened so fast. I mean, obviously not, but I was just on the phone with him one night and then it just kind of came up and we thought, "Why not?".

Andy, we can't afford it! I can hardly afford my parents flying to India for the second wedding. :(

Vera

For those of you who do wish to participate, here are the dates (PM me for more detailed locations):

London - July 28th
Gujarat - August 5th (three days after my birthday!!! <3)

We've decided that the London thing will be no-alcohol but we'll have a party of our own on 29th so perhaps we should have a BBS party then? We'll just go to the pub, some of his friends and some of mine.

Dave, sorry for the rudeness. I just want to do everything right, you know?

Congratulations! Wow, the first 100% BBS marriage! You guys are setting precedents here. I wish I could go, but you know, the Atlantic Ocean is a pretty big barrier (as is the fact that my mom wouldn't let me cross it to go to a wedding for 2 people I've never personally met). But the thought is there!

Happy April Fool's to everyone, especially to those who flipped their shit.

I sms'ed Dush about this and I quote: "-- But i <3 you!"

As much as a Gujarat wedding would be to my liking (too many Indian films do that to ya), it's not happening.

Thanks for the support, though. Even yours, Break.

I'm just amazed that anyone could believe a woman would be interested in Dush, let alone on April 1st.

Vera
04-01-2006, 02:23 AM
My last year spoof was so much better, in a way. Then again, not a lot of people flipped their shit over that. In fact, no one did, really.

I just had no better ideas this year. Actually, I did, but that was complex and only 7 people would've understood it in full so it didn't seem like worth doing.

Other people need to start doing these pranks, otherwise it's no fun. :/

You don't like pranks or you don't like me getting married?

Tizz, true, true.. But I wanted to be outrageous. I don't know, it was late.

I'll summarize the second idea to you because I don't feel like explaining it in full detail: Amsterdam was 9 months ago. The condom in the sink? Yeah, didn't work. Fake pregnancy, lalala, Anton's baby adopted by a Jewish couple.

Yeah. Hilarious but waaaay unbelievable.

And they don't speak Arabic in India.

And another thing that bothered me, why would you go to England to celebrate for his family, and THEN go to India to celebrate for his family.

Vera
04-01-2006, 03:10 AM
He's not?! Well, he told me his family is so I assumed he himself was.

Per, I was talking about turning Muslim, having to study the Quran, I would have to learn Arabic.

I know they don't speak Arabic in India, most Muslims in India either speak regional languages or the language spoken in Pakistan, Urdu, which is written in Arabic script.

Dush's family is Gujarati so that's their tongue.. But yeah, I did get my facts wrong to a certain extent. I'm sorry, should I have gone with getting pregnant instead? ;p

Vera
04-01-2006, 03:11 AM
Oh, and I would've gone to India because his family has family in India so I would've had to meet them too, because weddings are such a huge social event in India.

It does seem kind of ridiculous and I don't think it'd actually be done but I was making stuff up anyway so I thought exaggerating would be fine.

Maria, this may have been a prank and a joke but to be honest, I was slightly hurt by your & tom's idiocy last night. Not severely but still, it offended me - you weren't attacking the fact I was "marrying Dush" - that would've been fine, you were attacking something else entirely.

I appreciate the fact you would've apologised. I said some pretty mean things to you in return and I'm not too proud of those.
