View Full Version : Thank You for Smoking

Has anyone seen this movie yet? I saw it earlier today and I thought it was pretty excellent. I really enjoyed the main characters role as an antihero who is a lobbyist for the tobacco industry. I thought that he was funny and a joy to watch because of his outlandishly amazing arguments that one wouldn't really expect to make.

I didn't like that the movie focused so much on his kid, though, I thought that the relationship with his son shouldn't have been so important. I wanted to know more about the kidnapping that occured. There also wasn't enough of him battling with his dependency on tobacco when he couldn't have it anymore. Other than that, though, I thought it was spectacular.

Your thoughts (if any)?

"thank you for smoking" sounds like an ABBA song.

besides that, haven't seen the movie.
unrelated note: my father once testified from his position as a lungspecialist against someone with lungcancer, who sued the tobacco company. go figure. my father even smokes himself.

you never see nick smoke during the moving, and the only time you see him with a pack is at the beginning when he looks into an empty one.

i did enjoy it though, very entertaining.
