View Full Version : Dexter and the Social Impact

This is mainly directed towards Dexter. I was just wondering how the name Dexter socially impacted your life. My fiance and I are planning on naming our son Dexter and all our friends are telling us what a reject he's going to be for having that name. Steve and I think the name rocks, but we tend to have some unconventional thoughts at times. Is our son doomed with a name like Dexter? Should I start saving now for psyche counseling?

Dexter hardly ever reads the forums, and his real name is Bryan Keith Holland.

whats the problem the kid be called Dexter? a lot of people r called dexter, its not an bad name or something. besides is your son you can name him whatever u want, even put his name as ass (not to offend)

just my opinion

Reason some people might think it's a bad name is because Dexter isn't really a name. It spawned from the nerd insult Poindexter or whatever.

The meaning of life

Dexter name is not that bad i got a wrost name and my nightmare period when people throw rock as me is past (cause of my name)

whatever but it turned out to be a real name, i cant see why not put his name as dexter if both parents think its a good name, its their son not theirs friends kid.

dude put the name of the kid the way u want, if u want to call him dexter that depends of you, its a good name (i'm not saying it only because of dexter :p )

Oh trust me i think its a cool name. I was just pointing out why some people might ridicule it for the origin. If anyone ever made fun of my cats name, I'd break their face.

exactly, its not a bad name, its even comun right now

There shouldn't be a problem with you calling your child Dexter if you like the name just don't call your child Noodles as that would be child abuse.

ahaha agreed

dont name your son dexter.

Maybe as a middle name....

His name is Bryan, not Dexter. I really like the name Dexter, but it's a bad idea to name your child that. He will be ridiculed constantly.

I don't mind the name Dexter. I personally wouldn't do it, but if you like the name then by all means go for it. I've known people with far worse names who turned out just fine.

Dexter is a nickname and should be kept that way.

^ A what? O_o

I wouldn't name him Dexter, for the only reason that it isn't a name, it's just a nickname. I'd think carefully about it, he's gonna carry his name through all his life; it's not like buying him a t-shirt that he won't probably like and can throw away... it will be his identity.

You can always call him Dexter when he grows up and he likes it better than his real name, just don't make it official.
